Dinesh Chugh's Mittal Versus Mittal, a Shaila Film's production, directed by Karan Razdan, is a film about man-woman relationship, especially in a marriage. It tackles the romantic, the emotional and the physical sides of their relation. Since marriage is a legal relation, we talk about love and the law through the film.

There are laws protecting the man and woman in this relationship. Through Karan (Rohit Roy) and Mitali (Rituparna Sengupta) we are taken on a journey which begins with love and culminates in war. The war of the roses. And when there is war between man and woman, the law has to come in to play.

And when the woman accuses the husband of rape, a lot of law books open up. Judgements of various courts come in to play.

The law as in section 375 376 IPC, which deals with rape, does not give a woman the freedom to accuse her husband of rape. (until and unless she is sixteen.) The society says that a husband has all the freedom to enjoy his conjugal rights as and when he wants. In a lot of marriages it turns out to be a torture for the woman, but she cannot talk about her intimate details to even her loved ones. So where does the woman go ……..?

There has come a ray of hope in the form of the domestic violence act in 2006. The film debates that in court, through the clash of two high profile lawyers. Karuna Maheshwari (Suchitra Krishnamurthy) and Harish Salunke (Gulshan Grover).

Through Mittal vs Mittal we bring the man's and the woman's point of view to the audience, without being judgmental.

Mittal Versus Mittal is a Shaila Films Production, produced by Dinesh Chugh, and written and directed by Karan Razdan. -(SAMPURN)
