The film is a new age romance and it starts with Sushant Singh Rajput (Raghu) having pre-wedding jitters. Raghu is a guide and makes a living out of fooling the foreign crowd a little. He is way too confused when it comes to relationships. He falls in love with the next girl he sees, and its actually love for him and with everyone. But this boy has issues and alot of them. He just cannot get married. He gets scared, runs off and jitters run all over his spine the moment marriage comes on the cards for him.
Enters Parineeti Chopra( Gayatri) and Raghu is smitten. Even though he is on the way to get married, he looks at Gayatri and pop goes his heart . So the tale of romance called Shuddh Desi Romance starts.
Sushant has played Raghu quite well. He is believable as Raghu from the way he talks to the way he dresses. But much more than just glimpses of Ranveer Singh from Maneesh Sharma's Band Baaja Baarat have been seen in Sushant's portrayal of Raghu.

Parineeti Chopra is the show stealer one more time. She is a perfect fit for Gayatri. Even though most of the characters Parineeti has played have been similar to each other, but she nails at being the girl who doesn't care about what the social norms are? She does what her heart says and that's about her. She has no inhibitions and is pure talent.
Raghu and Gayatri fall in love in a very non filmy way and move in together. They start getting to know each others past and the usual happens. Doubts, double thoughts and more doubts.
The plot is unusual and peppy. The idea of making not a usual love story is something to look forward to in this film. The dialogues of the film are quite nice. They make you smile throughout. The film has moments, enjoyable moments rather.

The first half of the film is better than the second half of the film. The second half of the film seems like a repetetion of the first half. Vaani Kapoor who is the newest entrant in Bollywood plays Tara. Gayatri and Tara are similar yet different. Both the characters are bold and honest. Both the characters say what is in their hearts. Tara and Raghu
fall in love in the second part and more or less the plot runs on the similar lines.
Rishi Kapoor is the most enjoyable character in the film. He plays Goel sahab who plans weddings and fake wedding guests for a living. Rishi Kapoor is as versatile as versatile can get. He can be a deadly villain when you want, he can be a comic character when you want. He is a treat to watch.

One thing we have realised is that Maneesh Sharma, the director is a fan of the characters who are straight from the heart. He has always had similar characters in all his films and co-coincidently Parineeti has been a part of 2 of them. So somewhere they seem similar. His films are bright in colour and peppy in terms of music.
The new girl Vaani Kapoor is fine. She is confident on camera, speaks her lines fine but she will have to work very hard to get noticed.

After alot of confusion, running back and forth the climax of the film is different. It makes you think if being married is actually worth it without mocking it. The point of the whole story is that if 2 people are in love, no marriage matters and if they are not, marriage would never save a ship from drowning.
Shuddh Desi Romance is definitely worth a one time watch. It is not the love story of this era but a film you can have fun with. It has its moments, it is quirky and you'll have a smile throughout atleast.
