BollyCurry once again brings to you another Celeb in the Spotlight!

This time, British singer Jay Sean, the heartthrob of millions, takes centre stage.

Jay Sean was born to a Sikh Punjabi family on March 26th, 1981 in London, England. His parents, Sharan and Bindi Jhooti, immigrated to the UK before he was born.

Jay attended Laytmer Upper School. Coincidentally, this is the same private school that Hugh Grant, Heston Blumenthal and Lily Cole once attended.

With a good school record, Jay went on to persue a degree at Barts London School of Medicine and Dentistry at Queen Mary, University of London but dropped out in 2003 in order to fulfill his dream of becoming a professional singer.

From the beginning, he was extremely passionate about music.

Jay Sean's first song "One Minute" fell into the hands of successful music maestro Rishi Rich in 2003, leading to Rishi Rich Project. The Rishi Rich project consisted of a trio: Rishi Rich, Jay Sean and Juggy D.

The singer attracted all the desis of England with his 2nd song, "Dance With You [Nachna Tera Naal]", entering the song at  number 12 on the top 20 list. This lead to music label Virgin Records in signing the singing sensation for a million pound deal. His second single, "Got My Eyes On You" landed in the top 10 list at #6. His next, "Stolen", featuring Bollywood actress Bipasha Basu in the music video, reached #4.

The multi-talented rapper/producer/singer-songwriter/beatboxer parted ways with Virgin Records in 2007. He continued to work on his second album but the title song, "Deal With it" was given to Corbin Bleu, landing Jay the BMI Songwriter award. The song also inspired the South Korean band Shinee's song "Juliette".

His second album, My Own Way, featured the hit songs "Ride it" and "Maybe", and sold more than 350,000 copies around the world.

In 2008, Jay released "Down", taking the whole world by storm. The song topped the Billboard Hot 100, knocking the Black Eyed Peas off the charts. It sold more than 6 million copies across the world, and 3 million digital copies in the US, breaking a record of making it the best-selling single by a British/European male artist in North America.

His latest album, "2012 [It Aint The End]" came out on 22nd February 2011.  He has another album in the works, set to hit stores on May 10th, 2011.

The British star has not just taken Hollywood and the music industry by storm, but has also appeared in the 2005 Bollywood film Kyaa Kool Hai Hum. He also performed "Dil Mera [My Heart]" for the film.

Bollycurry would also like to seize this opportunity to wish the singer happy birthday!
