Aditya Roy KapurThe boy next door, with a childlike laughter and a boyish charm. In a candid chat with india-forum.com Aditya Roy Kapur, speaks about his low phase in career, life after the success of Aashiqui 2, and lot more.

How has life changed post Aashiqui 2?

Aashiqui changed my life completely. The best thing that happened to me was a solo film doing so well. Because of which I got an opportunity to do so many other roles. Now I am more of a recognizable face, earlier also I was recognized, but not to this extend.

When your movies didn't do well, did you go in to a low phase?

I had never tasted success before so I never knew what it is (laughs), and I got into films, not thinking that this is going to be career and I am going to be a star. I discovered I liked acting while acting. So by the time I finished Guzaarish, I thought that I wanted to do this only. If Aashiqui 2 didn't do well that would have been a different feeling. I wasn't happy that my earlier films didn't do well. I did get recognition, but there is no substitute to a film doing well.

Did you choose Daawat-e-Ishq consciously, to break out of the type casted role of a drunkard?

I wanted to do something different, which would be challenging too. Luckily when I heard the script, I was very much interested in playing the part. I was interested in playing a role I wasn't a part of the world. It was good for as I could break that image about myself.

Tell us about your decision of not eating anymore?

After shooting Daawat-e-Ishq, I have sworn never to eat again. (Laughs) It was a very tough film to shoot, to resist eating, because we were shooting in Lucknow and Hyderabad, and the food there is amazing. As the film went ahead we gradually started putting on weight. Now I am preparing for the next film we are shooting, for which I have to lose some weight.

You are known to have bad culinary skills, so how easy or difficult was it for you to play a chef in the film?

It was more about looking comfortable in the kitchen, rather than knowing recipes. If you can do that you are sorted, which was not easy either. (Laughs) But over the course of the film I learnt how to make a romaali roti big by flipping it in the air. I also learnt to chop fast from my father.

Aditya Roy KapurDid you have to make an extra effort on your language for the film?

Luckily I didn't have to do as much work as Parineeti had to do. She had to learn a different language. But my character is not very thick with his accent. Just the pronunciation had to be correct, it couldn't be too anglicised. Because Habib Faisal's language is so amazing that I sat with him during reading and he helped me out a lot.

How excited are you to work with Rekha in Fitoor?

I am very excited about Fitoor. I am totally kicked about the fact that I am going to be working with Rekhaji. Its going to be one hell of a ride. It's already made in Hollywood and now being made in Bollywood, it is an adaptation of a book.

We wish that you continue to charm the audience and all the luck for Daawat-e-Ishq and all his future releases.
