Virtue triumphs Vice

With the whole nation reminiscing in the festivities of Dussehra, BollyCurry presents to you a few Bollywood movies that also celebrate the victory of the virtuous.

One of the most recurrent sayings that we've heard our elders trying to settle in our minds is that "good always conquers evil". With the whole nation reminiscing in the festivities of Dussehra, BollyCurry presents to you a few Bollywood movies that also celebrate the victory of the virtuous.

One of the first movies that comes to mind is Singham. The movie sets off with the atrocities of a corrupt politician, Jaikant Shikra, whose vicious actions lead an honest officer to commit suicide. Consequently, the hero makes an entry in the form of Bajirao Singham, a police officer who scares the daylights out of the malevolent. Despite the hurdles placed in his path, he makes his way through the ups and downs, ending Shikra's reign and defeating the evil.

Next on the list is Lajja which had a stellar cast including the cream of tinsel town. Vaidehi, the wife of a crude businessman, flees from her house when her husband decides to terminate her pregnancy. During her journey, she takes shelter at places where women are being tormented in the form of dowry, molestation and its likes. The movie ends with Vaidehi putting an end to all of this mayhem and standing for the rights of the women. All the people who cause women to suffer are depicted as the evil that prevails in the society.

No movie depicts women power as efficiently as Kahaani. Vidya Bagchi, a heavily pregnant woman, lands in India to find her missing husband. The plot thickens with several characters that weave the mysterious web and drowning the viewers in curiosity. The story takes several turns, finally reaching climax wherein Vidya kills the man responsible for the death of her husband and many more. Pretending to be an expecting woman turned innocent victim, Vidya effortlessly gains triumph as she avenges her husband's death.

One of the highest grosser of its time, Singh Is Kinng confers the same message but in a slightly different manner. Harpreet Singh aka Happy takes on the Herculean task of bringing back Lakhan Singh aka Lucky from the world of crime. In the process, Happy has to fill in the position as the leader of Lucky's men due to the latter being ill. Ultimately, Happy manages to reform Lucky and his men, scaring away their vices.

The last movie on this list is King Khan's own production, Ra.One. The movie screams how the story never ends until everything falls into place. Shekhar Subramaniam, a video game programmer, develops a game in which the villain is exponentially powerful compared to the hero, as desired by his son. This leads him to get killed, initiating the war between good and evil, where it seems impossible for good to triumph. But it all ends with the victory of the right people, sinking evil deep down.

The list of movies of good empowering over evil is huge and a slightly impossible to note all. So we'll leave it here and look forward to your contribution. Until then, BollyCurry signs off, wishing you all a very happy Dussehra and hopes the vices burn down to bring happiness and prosperity in your life.
