We often see legions of pieces written on the generations of Bollywood families but rarely is there mention of the relation that exists between a star and their in-law. An in-law is that person with who we share no blood relation with, but share a bond of love, care, respect and compassion. So as October 27th celebrates Mother-In-Law Day, BollyCurry presents to you Bollywood's real life mother-in-laws and the special bond they share with their child's spouse.

Kareena Kapoor - Sharmila Tagore

The Kapoor khandan beti married Saif Ali Khan, the Nawab of Patuadi, in a low key affair at a court in Mumbai. The lass is now the bahu of the legendary actress, Sharmila Tagore. Kareena publicly calls Tagore "Maa" and has stated her to be a calm, easygoing and non-intrusive person. The sad part is that they haven't starred in a film together and their respective fans are eager to see them share the frame. However, being the Begum of Patuadi, Tagore also wants Kareena to abide by the rituals and fulfill her position.

Akshay Kumar - Dimple Kapadia

Dimple Kapadia's eldest daughter Twinkle married Akshay Kumar in a private affair on January 17th, 2001. The Indian Jackie Chan, as he is fondly called, is known to share a strong bond of love and respect with his mother-in-law and are often seen in each other's company. Both share a good relation and it is evident in every family get together. Both are also famous for throwing lavish parties in honour of each other, which is just what the audience wants.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan - Jaya Bachchan

The wife of the country's superstar is also the mother-in-law of the former Miss World, Aishwarya Rai. Jaya shares a great camaraderie with her bahu and openly praises her in front of everyone. The latter has been known to state that there are many a qualities she likes about her bahu which also includes her loving nature. While, Aish shares a much closer bond with Amitabh Bachchan, it's no doubt that she is liked by one and all in her sasural as well. We hope this saas-bahu duo continues to share a wonderful relation.

Ajay Devgn - Tanuja Mukherjee

Ajay Devgn, the action hero who is shy and quiet by nature, fell in love with the vivacious girl-next-door, Kajol. Kajol is the daughter of yesteryear actress, Tanuja. Though both are opposites in taste and class, Ajay shares a beautiful bond with Kajol's mother, Tanuja. Both are seen attending events together and praising each other in nearly all the interviews. During the period of Tanuja's illness, Ajay purposefully stayed at home so he could take care their children while Kajol attended to her mother. Must say, a true son!

Fardeen Khan - Mumtaz Madhvani

The super cool Khan who has been missing from the big screen off late tied the knot with Mumtaz's daughter, Natasha. Mumtaz did nothing to hide her happiness about their union and has often been seen appreciating Fardeen. He is the son which she has been searching for and both share a striking bond. Though Fardeen's career has been low and his private life a secret, it's no secret that he loves Natasha's family. We wonder if Fardeen can bring back the brilliance of Mumtaz back on our screens in a joint venture?

Saif Ali Khan - Babita Kapoor

It was widely speculated that Babita was very much against the matrimonial alliance of Saif and her daughter, Kareena, citing various reasons such as the large age gap. However, witnessing her daughter's elated happiness first hand, the protective mother gleefully accepted Saif as her son-in-law. Though the duo have rarely been spotted together at events, we are sure a strong bond exist between the two.

A mother-in-law is often the first hurdle to pass before entering the holy sanctity of marriage and she also the one to ease unfamiliarity when the bond between partners has been sealed. She may not receive the praise she deserves for her accomplishments so here's a standing ovation to all those mother-in-laws making the house a happy home for all newcomers.
