Charity Work of Celebs

BollyCurry presents to you a list of a few B-Town celebs who have been involved in several charities.

17th February marks the Day of Kindness and we, at BollyCurry, present to you a list of a few B-Town celebs who have been involved in several charities and their only motive is to help unprivileged people, that is, being kind.

Salman Khan

The first celeb in our list is best known for his love for children. He started a NGO called Being Human which sells kids, women, men's clothing and other products online and in store. His foundation's purpose is to help unprivileged children and it's main focus is their education and healthcare. Haven't guessed yet? It's none other than our Dabbangg Khan who has also launched his own production house, SKBH Productions (Salman Khan Being Human), which donates money from his company's earning to his NGO. Apart from this, he's also seen at various charity events. He often donates most of his earnings from movies to his charity to assist the underprivileged children.

Priyanka Chopra

The next Celeb in our list is the Desi Girl, Priyanka Chopra, who is mostly seen supporting women issues such as female infanticide and their education. In 2010, she worked with Pearls Wave Trust's campaigns against violence and abuse of girls. She then appeared at the launch of "Save Girl Child" that aims to change people's mentality about girls. Since 2008, she had been working with UNICEF promoting children's rights and female education. Rewarding her hard-work and her passion for children and especially girls, she was appointed as UNICEF's Goodwill Ambassador for Child Rights in 2010.

John Abraham

The handsome hunk John Abraham is next on our list, and he has a particular love for animals. He is involved with PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) and Habitat for Humanity, a Jimmy Carter Foundation that aims to provide safe housing for those that cannot afford it. He also has his own clothing fashion line which donates the majority of the earnings to various charities. Since January 2009, Abraham has also been leading a group of Indian celebrities in the Mumbai Marathon to raise funds for charities.

Shabana Azmi

The beautiful actress Shabana Azmi, who is a prominent in the social activist, is particularly passionate about women's rights and AIDS education. She has also done much in the realm of social justice, child survival, improving the plight of slum-dwellers, etc. Her hard work was noticed by the United Nations Population Fund in 1998 and they bestowed the honor of appointing her as the Goodwill Ambassador for India. In 2011, she organized a charity fashion show, Mijwan, where she invited numerous B-Town celebs in a quest to raise funds for various social campaigns.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

Miss World 1994, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, is a UN Microcredit Spokesperson, a PETA supporter and runs Aishwarya Rai Foundation, an organization to help Indians in need. She is also the brand ambassador of The Eye Bank Association, a campaign that promotes eye donation in India. She is also very involved with an organization called Smile Train, which provides free cleft lip and cleft palate surgeries for children all around the world. Mrs. Bachchan has also appeared with other B-Town celebs for raising funds at several events such as HELP! Telethon Concert, an event to raise money for the victims of 2004 tsunami earthquake.

A special mention goes to the late Jiah Khan who supported PETA as well. She was seen in an ad that was to spread the word that animals who are locked in zoos suffer and one should let them live in their natural homes.

Many other B-Town celebs are also involved in charities, campaigns, international associations, with Kajol, Vidya Balan, Amitabh Bachchan, Shilpa Shetty, Dia Mirza and Shah Rukh Khan, being just a few. But what's missing from this list is our name, yes ours! On this day, we should make a promise to help those in need in whatever little way we can! Remember you don't need to have a big name to help people. You just need to have a big heart!
