Happy Birthday Akshay Khanna!

BollyCurry welcomes you to the celebration of yet another talented celebrity - Akshay Khanna!

BollyCurry welcomes you to the celebration of yet another talented celebrity, one who has starred in many critically and commercially acclaimed movies. We talk of none other than the immensely talented Akshay Khanna!

Khanna was born on 28th March, 1973 to Vinod Khanna, a Bollywood actor and politician, and Geetanjali. Rahul Khanna, also a Bollywood actor, is Khanna's elder brother. Little else is known of his personal life as he prefers, much like his family, to keep out of the media's eyes.

Khanna made his Bollywood debut in Vinod Khanna's Himalaya Putra (1997) however, the movie went by almost unknown. His next appearance was in J.P. Dutta's multi-starrer Border (1997), which was a huge success, commercially and critically, and earned him the Filmfare Best Debut Award as well as a nomination for the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor. Khanna followed this successful stint with several unfortunate unsuccessful films but his luck changed in 1999 with Rishi Kapoor's Aa Ab Laut Chalen and then Subhash Ghai's Taal. The former movie did average business at the Box Office, while the latter went on to become a favorite amongst many. He continued to star in many other successes such as Farhan Akhtar's cinema changing Dil Chahta Hai (2001), Humraaz (2002), Hungama (2002), Hulchul (2004), Gandhi My Father (2007) and Race (2008). However, his later releases did not fare him the same success at Box Office as his previous movies did.

Thus far, Khanna's role in Gandhi My Father (2007) is unanimously considered his best performance till date. His portrayal of negative roles in movies such as Humraaz (2002), Naqaab (2007) and Race (2008) are also considered amongst his most exceptional body of work.

Over the years, Khanna has won many other awards besides his collated one from Border (1997). He has been presented the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor for Dil Chahta Hai (2001), Special Jury Award at Screen Awards for Dil Chahta Hai (2001), IIFA Award for Best Villain for Humraaz (2002), Best Performance Award at Australian Indian Film Festival for Gandhi My Father (2007), and the Best Villain Award at both IIFA Awards and Screen Awards for Race (2008).

On his birthday, BollyCurry brings to you a playlist of some of his popular songs:
  1. "Sandese Aate Hain" - Border
  2. "Kissa Hum Likhenge" Doli Saja Ke Rakhna

  7. "Pari Pari" - Hungama
  8. "Rafta Rafta" - Hulchul

On his birthday, here's wishing this great actor a very happy birthday and may he soon face renowned success again!
