Actors that Matured Over Time

BollyCurry looks at a few actors who have definitely grown up, not only in terms of their acting abilities, but also in terms of their personalities.

It has been rightly said, 'Time and Tide wait for none'. As time moves its wand over everything and things continue to grow, it becomes inevitable for us to notice the change that surrounds us. Trends change and so do people, it is all only a natural course of life. How is it possible then, that we can overlook the obvious changes which have happened to our very beloved actors of Bollywood over the past years? It's so obvious that when these actors had started out in Bollywood, they were of a different temperament and their movie choices reflected a different aspect of their personality. But now after so many years of being established in the industry, they have grown and their current status is vastly different from their initial one. With this article, BollyCurry looks at a few actors who have definitely grown up, not only in terms of their acting abilities, but also in terms of their personalities.

Kangana Ranaut

Although she debuted to a mostly positive response from critics in 2006, it wasn't until much later that she was taken seriously by the industry. Kangana, despite being a great actress, always received much flak from critics for her not-so-perfect English skills. However, she never allowed this to deter her. Over the years, she worked hard to overcome all the obstacles which stopped her from becoming a mainstream Bollywood actress. Between then and now, she has changed her perception in people's minds by proving she has a much wider scope than just playing the neurotic roles she was being typecast into. She has gone from playing flowerpot roles in disaster movies to carrying a film to critical and commercial success, solely on her shoulders. The original fashionista tag holder of Bollywood, Kangana's growth has truly been noteworthy.

Before he shot to national and international fame, Nawazuddin Siddiqui could be seen as an extra in various films. His very normal, unglamorous looks and a very humble background always came in the way of him finding the success he so deserved. It's no wonder then, that now, when he's become famous and many commercial actors aspire to be as good at acting as he is, he admits to being very bitter about other people's success. Just like an uncut diamond waiting to be polished, Nawazuddin was waiting for the right director to notice his talent and hone his skills. Getting a much deserved break in the critically acclaimed saga Gangs of Wasseypur, the doors of opportunities he had only dreamed of, opened up and welcomed him with both hands. From having a one minute scene in Munna Bhai M.B.B.S to sharing screen space with the superstar of the nation, Salman Khan, in Kick, the drastic change in his life is out in the open for all to see. However, fame and success hasn't gotten to his head probably because the man who used to be bitter about not getting his worth has now become detached from the fickle world of fame and has embraced himself for what he is and prides himself in what he does.

Deepika Padukone
This tall beauty made an enviable debut opposite the Baadshah of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan himself, but she never got due attention for her work. Either known as the girlfriend of the upcoming superstar or being written off as just another beautiful face amongst a horde of others, Deepika went on to receive a lot of flak for the choice of characters she chose to essay. Despite doing many movies of various levels of success, she was never the one talked about for her contribution to the said success. Not letting the voice of her detractors hinder her work, she went on to work much harder and that hard work paid off in 2013 when she starred in three back-to-back blockbuster movies. Not only that, but she was credited as being one of the main factors for the success of the movies she acted in. Much more than a pretty face, Deepika proved that hard work and the right choices can definitely take one to the road of success in Bollywood. She has grown from the girl who put her heart on her sleeve to a thorough professional who keeps her professional and private life separate.

These were just a tip of the iceberg as there are many actors who have changed drastically, and for the better, over the years they have spent in the glamourous world of Bollywood. Use the comment box below and tell us which actor you think has matured the most in terms of personality and acting.
