Yo Mr. DJ - Eid Special!

In this edition of Yo Mr. DJ, BollyCurry brings to you some memorable songs on Eid in recent years.

It is often said that there is unity in diversity in India and so defying cultural and religious barriers, just like any other festival, is Eid-ul-Fitr, celebrated by people of all religions with great fervor.

In this edition of Yo Mr. DJ, BollyCurry brings to you some memorable songs on Eid in recent years.

1. Noor-e-Khuda - My Name is Khan

The sensational trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, along with writer-turned-lyricist Niranjan Iyengar, have come together to created this magical piece. An unplugged version of this song rendered by Shreya Ghoshal, Adnan Sami and Shankar Mahadevan is an extremely soulful ballad that instantly strikes a chord with listeners. The movie starred Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol and was directed by Karan Johar.

2. Arziyaan Saari Main - Delhi 6

The lines penned by Prasoon Joshi for this qawwali track in Delhi 6, consist of a fascination that is almost indescribable. Its poignancy travels through the number but can be especially echoed in the simplicity of the heartfelt cry "Marammat muqaddar ki kardo, Maula". The film featured Abhishek Bachchan and Sonam Kapoor in the lead, and the legendary musician A.R Rahman scored the song.

3. Yoon Shabnami - Saawariya

This film marks the debut of both the lead actors, Ranbir Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor. Parthiv Gohil's vocals emanate warmth as he goes on about singing paeans in appreciation of his beloved in "Yoon shabnami pehle nahi thi chandni". The debutante composer Monty Sharma showcases the metaphoric beauty of the moon - the oncoming symbol of Eid - with this soundtrack.

4. Mubarak Eid Mubarak - Tumko Na Bhool Payenge

The title of the song explains it all. This festive track composed by Sajid-Wajid and sung by Sonu Nigam, Arvinder Singh and Sneha Pant, offers a multi-level feel to its listeners from bhangra to traditional dance to that perfect Eid mubarak feeling. The film stars Salman Khan,  Sushmita Sen and Dia Mirza in lead roles.

5. Kun Faaya - Rockstar

"Kun Faaya Kun" is a tribute to the sufi saint Nizamuddin Auliya in the voices of maestro A.R Rahman, Mohit Chauhan, and Javed Ali. The song produces magical portals that spellbound you and allow you to connect with God Almighty. The lyrics by Irshad are hard hitting and touching to say the least.

This Eid, let's develop the best possible version of ourselves, so that the spirit of humanity and the festival lasts for a lifetime. We hope you liked this edition and do let us know of your favorite Eid song!

From this BollyCurry author and all the others, Eid mubarak!
