19th September Written Update

Anandi's father informs Bhagwathi of what Dadisa had said.  Bhagwathi is stunned and angrily says that they will not send their daughter back to that house.  Anandi's father goes outside with Kaka who says that they are from the girls side and have to accept defeat, even if the mistakes not their own.  He adds that Anandi needs to go back to her in-laws.  Anandi's father agrees.

Haveli…

Sumitra is setting up for puja and the rest of the family is assembled.  Dadisa tells them not to bring sullen faces in front of God.  Sugna says that she is missing Anandi and an angry Dadisa tells the family that no-one will take her name in the house again.

Puja starts and Dadisa's eyes fall on the money in the thali.  She checks and realises that 100 Rs. Is missing. She wonders where it went and realises that Anandi took it.  She tells Bhairav to ring Anandi's father [Khajan] and inform him about what his daughter has done.  Bhairav tries to reason with her, saying that she would not do such a thing but Dadisa rants that she knows how the parents of poor girls work and says that they must have told her to steal and come back; and if they allow her back in the house then it won't be long until she takes over the whole house.

Dadisa urges him to ring Khajan and end this alliance right now.  Bhairav tells eh that the PCO is probably closed now and promises to talk with him first thing tomorrow.

Village…

Phooli gives Anandi jalebis and ladoos.  Anandi is happy and tells her how Jagdish had bought her jalebis once, as well as colourful bangles; but she gave them away to her widowed friend.  Anandi looks confused and asks why widows are not allowed to wear colourful bangles.  She remembers how the women had broken Phooli's bangles and tells her that she doesn't look good dressed plainly and advises her to dress up at night and change back in the morning; that way no-one will find out and tell her of.

Phooli looks upset and replies she doesn't have any bangles.  Anandi assures her that she can have her bangles but then looks morose as she says that they are all at her in-laws.  Phooli asks her to go get them but Anandi says that she won't go to her in-laws ever.

Meanwhile Khajan is arguing with Bhagwathi and tells her that he is ready to keep Anandi with them forever but society will point fingers at them and Anandi's character.  Kaka and Kaki also try talking to Bhagwathi and Khajan asks what will happen to Anandi when they are no more.  He asks her to leave her anger; for now he can beg in front of Anandi's in-laws but can't be sure that they will agree if they delay this.

Bhagwathi weeps and agrees but says that first they will ask what Anandi's mistake was but if they can't give her an answer then she will bring Anandi straight back and won't listen to anyone.  Khajan replies that he is also worried about his daughter.

Kaka says that they should bring Anandi around now.  Kaka, Kaki leave and Khajan consoles Bhagwathi who breaks down.

Inside…

Phooli tells Anandi about how they are moving to the same village as her [Anandi's] in laws but Anandi tells her not to go as Dadisa will scream at her as well.  Khajan and Bhagwathi and Bhawathi tells her not to make fun of Dadisa and that she should respect her.

Anandi refuses to do so but Khajan talks sternly with her and tells her that she was also wrong in coming back without telling anyone and says that she will have to go back.  Anandi becomes upset but Bhagwathi explains to her and when Anandi doesn't listen, Bhagwathi weeps and says that they will be defamed in front of society and the village will drive them out like they did with her teacher. 

Anandi cries and tells Bhagwathi that she will go back.
