Panditji comes home to meet Maasa. Maasa tells him that this time she wants to ensure that her grandson is born. She asks the pandit to start Maha mrutyunjaya jaap from the next day. She gives him close to a lakh rupees for this. Maasa tells Sumitra to take care of Gehna and make sure all her needs are taken care of. She also tells Sumitra to look for a good mid-wife. She warns her that at no cost should the previous mid-wife be brought home.
Anandi is cleaning rice and studying. Suguna comes there and tells Anandi that she plans to make a scarf for Pratap. She offers to clean the rice for Anandi and tells her to go study. Daadisa watches this and is not happy. She goes to her room and collects a lot of colorful beads. She comes to Anandi and tells her to make necklaces out of all of them for God. Anandi tells her that she would make them the next day, but Daadisa insists that she start immediately. Unable to study and make the necklaces at the same time, Anandi puts her books down. Daadisa is happy.
Some scenes about Sumitra teaching Suguna to knit, Anandi reading the paper for Bhairav, Basanth over-feeding Gehna with kesar-milk etc..Everytime Anandi tries to study, Daadisa finds some work for her to do.
One morning, Anandi calls out to Sumitra. She keeps crying. Sumitra understands that Anandi has her first period. She consoles her that it was natural and that all girls go through this. Anandi is very scared and thinks something is wrong with her. Sumitra consoles her. In the kitchen, Gehna and Suguna are talking. Sumitra comes there. Gehna asks for Anandi, but Sumitra says Anandi cannot come to the kitchen and she talks in a way that Suguna and Gehna understand what is happening. Suguna leaves to take care of Anandi. She talks to Anandi to try to make her understand what is happening. After she leaves, Anandi starts studying. Daadisa sees this is frustrated that no matter what she does, Anandi is stubborn and manages to study.
