DOTW - Advertisement for Books?

Cool discussion! And I definitely do think that books should be advertised as well, because so many movie ads gives me a head ache! 😕 A seperate TV show on upcoming books would be cool...but I don't think many people would watch it other than book fanatics😆...maybe advertising books on billboards would help...or during intermissions in normal TV shows, instead of always movie ads...book ads would be cool and not boring...for me atleast.😆

Great discussion... I definitely think books should be advertised... on TV commercials, billboards, newspaper and magazine adverts... etc... I also think that authors should go on a little book tour before the release of their book and promote it in bookstores across the country... this way, people will be aware of books that haven't been released yet...

Great Topic! And i totally agree that books should be advertised! It would be soo great....you can actually get to know about new authors and new novels that have great storylines. They could ask the authors to talk about the book in a show....and maybe read a few lines of a good paragraph to give an insight to the reader to make them want to read the book.

I definitely think books should be promoted more. I think the idea of authors reading out bits of their books is good, like when J.K. Rowling read some of the last Harry Potter book. I also think they should advertise books on tv between programmes - maybe with some sort of synopsis or interesting lines or improv or something. I also think it'd help people to find new, different books they might not have tried ordinarily.

reading sadly is becoming redundant these days.  fewer people actually hold a book to read, tho i read somewhere these days people are into ebooks and audio books.  but the pleasure of holding a book in hand and reading is something else.

of course books ought to be advertised a big way.  they do have book launches etc...it is just by invitation.  the aam aadmi does not really get to see his fav author.  autographing books will also be another way of promoting books.  i agree with all of you when you say it has to promoted on tv etc.  let us hope things do change and more people get into the habit of reading...

I would love for books to be promoted more, but we have to be careful of the type of advertising that is used for book promotions. Do you think the apparent intergrity that a book may possess will be sustained if it is constantly being shoved down consumers throats at every available media, ie TV, billboards etc.?

I completely am for the topic. The TV commercials have become more or less obsolate and monotonous and they only advertise things and brands which are really not worthwhile. Books should be a part of this promotional operation because I feel it is a great way to make people aware of the upcoming books which are to come.
