Bandini Pandit lives with her parents and younger sister in Kausali. She's full of life & joy… always smiling… witty… in love with nature…
Even though, as the consequence of an unfortunate accident, she's been on a wheelchair since she was ten. Her lower middle class family has already spent more than they can afford. Doctors and surgeons have since long given up hope in getting her to walk again. Bandini has taken her handicap in her stride and doesn't let pity or sympathy bring her down. We catch up with her when she's actually being the life of her younger sisters' wedding at Kasauli. Here, she comes across a young, wealthy & good-looking bachelor, Garv. Garv, promising young businessman and heir to an industrialist fortune, is astonished by Bandini's great analytical and statistical mind. He discovers that Bandini is a genius at solving puzzles and complex mathematical equations. He spends some quality time with Bandini not only tying to diagnose her handicap problem but exploring along with her Kasauli. Bandini is amused at why Garv would want to spend time with an invalid like her, when he has hundreds of women falling all over him. Garv reveals to her that he hates gold diggers and that's what all these women are. Garv is desperate to get away from these fake surroundings and boring functions and rather spend time with Bandini whose motto of jeeo jee bhar ke, intrigues him. Garv who is also a brilliant painter out of hobby, sketches numerous portraits of Bandini in the romantic locales of Kasauli. The parting at Kasauli is inevitable. Bandini does her best to get Garv out of her mind and treat it just as another happy dream that she had. However, she is in for a huge shock when, a few days later, Garv along with his family appears at her modest home, & proposes marriage. Bandini's family is over the moon with the proposal, & all, including Bandini are also more than a little intrigued.
Finally, having convinced themselves of the genuineness of the proposal, they accept. Neighbors, friends, relatives are stunned by such a great proposal for an invalid Bandini. Some think there is something sinister, others feel its Bandini's good Karma's and others believe its just pure love. What is really is something Bandini will only begin to discover when she enters the intriguing Lake House…Garv's huge mansion on the hills, overlooking a lake…
Why did Garv really marry an invalid woman…? Why does his family continue to stay on at Lake House despite the memories of the unfortunate accident there …?
Why are some of the family members so sweet to her, while others are so mean…? The lake itself holds out a mystery of an unfortunate & mysterious accident … one body was found, & not the other…Her husband, too, seems to smoothly glide between extremely loving… & utterly cold… leaving Bandini perplexed by his mood swings…Bandini's legs pose another challenge… there are only so many things she can explore at the mansion… only so many places she can approach… & definitely not the lake…!

Character SketchBandini: Though Bandini is a handicap but her attitude towards life is very positive. She is loving, caring, humorous and the most important thing about her is the fact that she is very sharp, intelligent and gifted with an analytical mind.
Shashikant Pandit: Shashikant Pandit, father of Bandini. He runs a garage in a small hill station. He is nice, humble and a very caring father. Always concerned about well being of his daughters. Specifically Bandini.
Bharti Pandit: Bharti Pandit is mother of Bandini, Sujata and Aditya. She also loves Bandini very much but simultaneously she wants see Bandini as independent family oriented girl.
Sujata: Sujata is younger sister of Bandini. She admires her and Bandini is role model for her.
Aditya: Aditya is youngest among the siblings. He is a typical teen age boy and some time mesmerized by materialistic things.
Fax Bua: Loud and humorous. Most of the time she cracks joke but she
is not a buffoon. When ever some critical situation arises she talks
the sense and behaves like a good adviser.
Kishan
Dhanwantrai: Kishan Dhanwantrai was a very smart and dynamic
businessman in his days. Following a major incident which affected his
brain, he now leads the life of a recluse. Rarely interacts with anyone
and is engrossed in making puzzling sketches which often depict the
incident which have recently taken place.
Nirmala: Nirmala is Kishan's wife a very strong woman. Because of Kishan's condition she has taken control of everything. Though Nirmala is very sweet and extra nice to Bandini but some times her character appears to be mysterious.
Karan: Karan is elder son of Kishan Dhanwantrai. But he is not interested in his family business instead he pursued his career in surgery and today he is country's one of the best plastic surgeon. Though he is very friendly with Bandini but some time he also behaves mysteriously. Moreover he has not a very good relationship with his wife Anu…Because of this some time his anger and pain surfaces on his face.
Anu: Anu is Karan's wife and eldest Bahu of Dhanwantrai family. Before marrying Karan she was in love with Karan's brother Garv. Now also she is unable to digest Garv Bandini's relationship. She doesn't leave any opportunities to humiliate Bandini for her humble family background and physical disability but in very subtle way…Basically she is like sweet poison.
Garv: Bandini's husband Garv is very smart charming good looking boy who is handling his dad's business after his accident. Some time it seems that Garv is very close to Bandini. She is everything for him but very next moment he becomes totally disinterested and ignorant. Since after marriage most of the time Bandini is confused by his behaviour.
Leela: Leela is governess and care taker of Kishan. Leela is very stern and authoritative by nature. She dislikes Bandini as she feels Bandini is not capable to become the bahu of Dhanvantrai. She is rather mysterious and keeps appearing and disappearing rather strangely
Sitara: Young talkative maid servant of Lake House, who has a habit of elaborating each and every incident, happens around her. She is also fond using English words though most of the time she speaks wrong English.
Insp. Rajni Dutta: Dynamic young lady police officer with human touch. She is harsh with criminals but soft with normal people. Much like Kiran Bedi. In later stage Bandini will share a special bond with her.
