Maasa pressurizes Gehna for a grandson
Basanth and Gehna go to the temple. They see Niranjan standing next to them. Basanth feels ackward and says nothing. Niranjan notices them and greets them. Basanth tries to justify Maasa's actions lying that they had some guests at home and didn't want Gehna's music lessons to disturb them. He apologises to Niranjan if Maasa said something wrong. Niranjan tells him that he didn't think any such thing. Basanth leaves with the priest to talk about some dharamshala construction. Niranjan talks to Gehna and tells her to not stop her music practice. Gehna tells him that she saw Maasa firing him and offering him money for fees. Niranjan tells her that he understands why he was asked to leave even though Maasa said nothing. he tells Gehna that she belongs to such a big family, yet she was so simple and down-to-earth. When she first started her lessons, there was so much pain in her voice that kept decreasing as her lessons progressed. For her own peace of mind, he asks her to keep learning music. Gehna tells him that he has understood her well. Niranjan says that it didn't take time to understand someone. Basanth listens to them from afar and thinks to himself.
Maasa and Badi maasi talk at home. Maasa seems pre-occupied and Maasi asks her what was wrong. Maasa tells her that Basanth had taken Gehna to the English doctor and she doesn't like that. The doctor was always predicting doom. Basanth and Gehna enter. He tells Maasa that the doctor was happy with Gehna's progess and if she continues this way, everything would be fine. He leaves for some work. Maasi then tells Maasa to take back her words about doctors. Maasa does not do that and instead says that the improvement was because of her efforts to keep Gehna happy and fulfill all her whims and fancies. Gehna keeps listening and gets upset.
Maasa continues her rants about wanting a grandson. Maasi asks her to not be so hopeful for a grandson and be accomodating even if she has a granddaughter. Maasa does not like this and says that Gehna had to give birth to a grandson. Maasi asks her if she would blame Gehna if she had a girl baby and Maasa says yes. Maasi tries to convince Maasa that the sex of the baby was dependant on the father and not the mother. This had been scientifically proved. Maasa rubbishes this theory saying the sex of the baby would be solely Gehna's responsibility. She then whispers to Maasi that she had spent loads of money on Gehna and her poor family and in return she expects a grandson. She leaves on some work. Maasi goes to Gehna and hugs her. Both of them cry at their helplessness to convince Maasa. Sumitra watches silently
Anandi and Jagya study with Suguna. Anandi helps Suguna with her math homework. Jagya gets the jalebis they had brought home. At first Suguna refuses, but then she gives in and eats Jalebis with both her hands....
Precap : Sumitra tries to console Gehna to not take Maasa's words seriously. Gehna tells her that she had momentarily forgotten that her days are numbered...
