Out of work Rani to judge Dance Premier League?

Yes the new name has surfaced on the list of judges for Sony's new reality show Dance Premier League. After Madhuri Dixit backing out at the last moment, the channel and production is clinging on the name of Rani Mukherjee now.

"Madhuri has ditched the channel and production house as she could not find a nanny to look after her kids. There were talks with Katrina Kaif too but things seem to be bit difficult there, thus now they have approached to Rani Mukherjee for the same, " chirps the source from the production house.

Elaborating more on the name surfacing now our source adds, "Rani is a good dancer and thus she fits in for the seat of the judge. Also the actresses haven't signed in any films after her latest flick Dil Bole Haddipa."

"Thus channel is very keen on having her in the panel thought things are almost finalist but nobody is ready to reveal anything till she signs on the dotted line, " concludes the source.

It seems the league of the judges on the show DPL is the reason for the delay of the show?

Yes you have heard it right; the buzz is that Arshad Warsi was roped in to only judge the auditions with Shaimak Davar for Dance Premiere League. The channel is yet to decide of whether to have him on the panel of judges with Rani or not.

"He was roped in for his upcoming flick to judge the auditions with Shaimak but not for the main series. But now the channel is thinking to bring him in the main panel too," chirps the little birdie.

The channel initially decided to have only Rani and Shaimak on the board. "But now it seems they have got the good response on having Arshad on the judges seat thus they will be soon talking to actor for the same," adds the source.

Arshad shouldn't mind doing it. As bada parda nahi toh chota he sahi, at least he is getting his share of fame here.

Hussain Kuwajerwala replaces Eijaz Khan as the host of a new dance show on TV
Hussain Kuwajerwala & Eijaz Khan

Eijaz Khan is out of the TV show Dance Premiere League and has been replaced by Hussain Kuwajerwala as the host with Sara Khan.

Eijaz had shot only four episodes when the channel realised that another host might not be such a bad idea. A source says, "When Eijaz was chosen for the audition rounds, the channel had figured then that the show could have done with a better host. He was also not well received by the audience on the show. Finally, the channel decided to replace him with Hussain, who was a livewire in most of the shows he had hosted earlier. Besides, Eijaz was also being high-handed."

The channel is tight-lipped about the replacement as Eijaz is doing another show for them, Bhaskar Bharti. The marketing head of the channel was hesitant when asked to confirm the story. "We are trying to sort out the issues involved," he said. On being probed further, he said, "Hussain will host the gala rounds."

Eijaz said, "Please don't give me stress in Canada. I did how much I was supposed to do for DPL. Now, I'm shooting for Tannu Weds Mannu from October 14. Sorry to break your illusion about a spicy replacement."

Despite sending text messages, Hussain remained unavailable for comment.

Canada's Prime Minister on Rani Mukherji's show
Buzz up!

This week is a very special week for Sony's Dance Premier League and the reason is quite important as well. It had a VIP guest on the sets.

The guests were the Canadian Prime Minister Steven Harper and his wife Laurien. The Canadian First couple sat through an entertaining performance by Howard Rosemeyer's Desi Pardesi team, who danced on Banthan chali….. After watching the foot-tapping and colourful performance Steven Harper said "Had I been a judge on the show, I would have given them a sixer!" The Desi Pardesi team includes contestants belonging to Canada also and the team was truly delighted to share the stage with their premier. The visiting dignitary is actually on a private vacation to India and dropped in to catch a glimpse of this reality show thanks to Shiamak Davar. Shiamak played the perfect host when he walked in with the VIP couple and introduced them to all… which included Randhir Kapoor who
made an exception to visit the sets in the studio owned by his family. An ecstatic Shiamak says, "Since Dance Premier League's team Desi Pardesi had contestants from Canada, the Canadian Consulate showed interest in visiting the sets. Both Mr. Steven Harper and Mrs. Harper loved their performance and were delighted to be the VIP guests on Dance Premier League."

Rani walks out on DPL
Buzz up!

Rani Mukerji who earned the title of DPL ki Rani by the show refused to judge Dance Premier League until the show's format is altered.

Furthermore, Rani has abruptly asked the show's producers, Cineyug not to make her resume her position as the judge until her demands are met. The incident happened at a studio in Chembur.

About this complete incident, a source said in the press, "Rani doesn't want the DPL participants to be eliminated starting this level (Level 5). She is of the opinion that the DPL winner must be chosen from the existing participants. As a result, the channel and the DPL producers Cineyug are in a fix. They are in no position to stand by her diktat as the show has already completed more than 60 per cent of its running time. In addition, the format of the show cannot be changed overnight, as it will involve a lot of planning."

The vice-president of the channel, Danish Khan, said in the press, "We are only interested in the final product. Cineyug, who make this show for us, will be the right people to talk to you about this."

Mohammed Morani of Cineyug confirmed the story and said in the press, "I was out of town when Rani walked out of the show. I do not know why Rani does not want eliminations to happen at this level. We have reached Level 5 in the show and need to carry out the eliminations to make the contest interesting. We are trying to explain this to her."

DPL was supportive and instrumental in helping a highly talented team garner another chance on Dance Premier League.

Contrary to reports, there was no 'diktat' or ultimatum given by Rani Mukherji. She was simply backing the team in consultation with both the channel (Sony Entertainment Television) and the producer of the show (Cineyug Worldwide).

Further, Rani Mukherji had a valid reason for asking for the change - she felt that the team concerned is doing extremely well and has huge public support. Therefore, it was only fair that they should be given an opportunity to have another chance, perform again and win the heart of the viewers and the judges. The channel and the producer of the show agreed to her suggestion. With a minor change in the format the team got a breather. Confirming this incident, Danish Khan, Vice President - Marketing, SET says "Please watch the episode this weekend to understand what Rani was trying to do. Her only objective was to retain some absolutely talented participants, and I think that is good for the show and good for the channel as well"

Mohammed Morani of Cineyug further adds that "Both the channel and the producer appreciate Rani's involvement and respect her opinion & suggestions. The facts need to be reported in conjunction with the real story otherwise it creates a wrong impression".
