Friday's Episode- A total drag...
Scene 1- Rasamma-Ila kootani
After Manimekalai escapes form Ila, Rasamma comes over to Ila. Rasamma tells Ila not to listen to Manimekalai cuz' she is young and naive. Rasamma says that she does not want the Collector to marry Ganga and she wants the collector to marry Mani. Rasamma says that she will convince Mani but Ila must somehow help her stop this wedding. Ila tells Rasamma to go to meet Kulasekaran, her dad. Ila tells Rasamma that is she follows all of Kulasekaran's instructions, she can surely stop the wedding. Both of them leave happily.
Scene 2-Rama arrives
The new rama is here and she is talking to her dad. She tells Ayya that she doesn't like Mnaimekalai. Rama says that Ayya is too trusting and that Manimekalai seems to be too over friendly. Ayya tries to convince her otherwise. Jayachandran comes there and tells them about Manimekalai helping Ganga's alangram and taking a photo of her and showing it to the Collector. JC convinces Rama that Mani is a good person and Rama feels bad for talking bad about Mani.
Scene 3- Nalangu
Rama jokes with Ganga about how the collector is somehow wearing the same color shirt as her sari. Mani and Ila comes over. Mani tells Ganag that everyone is waiting; so all 4 of the girls walk out. Everyone is happy to see Ganga (Ila has an angry expression on her face.) All the females put santhanam, kunguman and shower Ganga with flowers and then feed Ganga a mouthful. 1st is Nathciya, then Subbu, then Sk's mom, (all three are very happy!) then Ila (Ila does it very begrudgingly- I wonder why nobody else notices Ila's unhappiness), then Rasamma (who also is angry with Ganga taking Mani's rightful place) and then Manimekalai herself (Mani gives a sad look at the Collector but is all smiles at Ganga- I feel sorry for this Mani.)
Ayya asks Jc where Muthu is. Jc goes to look for his mom. Muthu is crying in a corner. Jc asks her why she is crying; Muthu says she even though she has given up on Ganga being her marumagal, she is crying because now her thangam is leaving. She says she is only human and that she is very happy for Ganga but also sad that Ganga is not coming to her house as a marumagal. Jc comforts her and tells her to come to the nalangu.. Muthu does the nalangu stuff too. Ayya and Natchiya notice that she is sad but can't so anything.
NExt few minutes is just dragging... Manimekalai sings a nalangu song after some intitial hesitation. They show a lot of scenes where the nalangu stuff take place. Everyone has different expression/ Muhtu is kinda sad as she looks on at Sk's mom, SK, JC and Ganga. Rasamma and Ila look angry and unhappy. Ayya, Natchiya, Subbs are v. happy. Ganga and Collector exchange shy looks. Mani is happy but also very sad that Collector is marryign someone else. After the song ends (it took lk 5 minutes or so), Mani turns away to hide her tears as Ganga falls at the feet of Ayya, Subbu and Natchiya for blessings.
Last Scene
JC brings aside Ayya, Natchiya, Ganga, Rama, Subbu and his mom. He happily does dhristi-sutthu fying for them all. Muthu looks sad that her son is doing all this edu-pidi work instead of being the mappilai. Nathciya stops him saying that she is so proud of him for thinking of something like that; Natchiya says that as one of the elders in the family she should have thought about the thristi-sutthu fying. Natchiya ans Subbu dhristi-sutthufy JC and then Ganga and JC throws away the karpporam. Ayya and family is all smiles...
