Patti & Lavanya talking while taking temple pradakshinam. Pleased at Lav's assurance to find a nice groom for Thulasi, patti pours out her woes. Briefs Lav that MM will not spend a penny for Thulasi or for her marriage. He would try to make money by selling her as he tried  by finalizing her marriage to that crook Velayudham  in spite of the huge age gap. By god's grace Tuls was saved in nick of the time & now patti prays for  Tuls getting a good & caring husband & tension free life. Lav was stunned by  the attitude of Tuls father & asks patti the reason for it. Now patti breaks the news that Tuls ' mom deserted her as a 2 year old kid & ever since that incident MM takes out all his anger on Tuls & ill treats her. Lav was shocked to hear the news.

Puvi comes home searching for Sudha. His mother tells him that Sudha came in a huff & left immediately along with her daughter without telling anything .Mother asks Puvi the reason for Sudha's action. Angry Puvi shouts back at his mother[ama ama sudhana simha sopanam..adhan mom & bro soft targets to show your anger]  that everything is because of his arumai pudhalvan TA. Saying so he storms out of the house [ where enga in search of his angry queen]. TA's mom calls TA who for a change was working in the bank [ habbada first time seeing TA doing official work...memoku nalla effect ]. Mom updates him of his anna/anni drama & enquires why again they are angry with him?.TA mazhupufies & changes the topic & asks mother to prepare poori bhaji for dinner as he is very hungry . Mom melts immediately & starts advising him for not eating properly & taking care of his health completely forgetting the incident.

Varadarajan [V] [Deepa's father] drives down to Vel's office to get FC. Meets Vel's sycophant assistant who  instead of signing FC papers starts his lecture to V on  upbringing. Chides him for having pampered & spoiled  his daughter ,vayadi  deepa  for bringing his boss's downfall. Pokes fun at his middleclass status & his ambition to make his daughter an engineer. V with great difficulty suppresses his anger & politely asks him to get the papers signed by the inspector. The assistant rudely asks him to leave the paper & vehicle & come back the next day.

Sudha  in her father's house , feeding her daughter. The child feels bored in that house & wants to go back to her chitappa & athai. Sudha shuts her up. Her father comes & asks  her about the progress of their new house. Sudha is all happy to inform him that it is in its final finishing stages & hopes to do Grihapravesam soon. Father asks whether  now at least she has informed her MIL? As usual Sudha starts her complain katcheri about MIL, SIL & BIL. Wants to move in to the new house only with her husband & daughter.  Sudha's father tries to advice her . Sudha now goes into self pity mode for not having a mother who would have understood her woes unlike her father. Hearing this her father makes a valuable comment...".why not see your MIL as your mother , which might solve all problems "  & leaves a perplexed looking Sudha.

MM's waiting outside the gate. Car arrives, MM sees Vel's sister and husband inside. Driver asks Vel to open the door and warns him not to come inside. The car goes inside, Vel's sis's husband asks her to let him inside as Vel is certain about getting married to Thulasi. She tells her husband that MM is also certain about getting rid of his daughter and if she lets him inside now, then he will come to them after marriage.

Mechanic is checking Varadarajan's van for any problems. He finds sand inside the engine and informs Varadarajan that someone must have done it purposely. Varadarajan understands that it's the work of Vel and co. Mechanic asks him to make a complaint, but Varadarajan tells him that it was partly his fault to have left the van there and asks the mechanic to get the problem sorted. Mechanic asks him to drive the van to his place.

MM's waiting outside the gate and the watchman asks him to buy tea for both of them. MM agrees.

Varadarajan is stopped by inspectors and is asked to present documents. Varadarajan hands the documents and they inform him that his FC papers are outdated. Varadarajan tries to explain, but the inspector is reluctant to listen. He asks Varadarajan to drive the van to the station. Outside the station, the inspector asks for the keys and tells him to come back later on. Varadarajan leaves and inspector calls Vel's assistant. Assist. asks him to keep the van there for another three days.

Varadarajan gets home and hands Deepa her license papers and asks her to go and get them sorted. Mum is worried and questions Varadarajan about the van. Varadarajan tells him about the sand in the engine and the inspectors. Mum tells Varadarajan that it's the work of Velayudam. Deepa suggests filing a case against them. Dad tells her not to get involved in this and concentrate on her studies. He adds that he would have filed a complaint against them if it wasn't for her education. Deepa tells him not to worry and suggests asking for student loan, but Varadarajan tells her it's not possible as they are a low/middle class family. Mum warns her not to get involved in anything. Deepa's upset.
