'Season 2 of Kitani Mohabbat Hai will be a bigger hit' - Nikhil Madhok

Imagine's Kitani Mohabbat Hai is back on public demand, and here is Nikhil Madhok of Imagine, sharing this big news with the loyal fans of the show..
It's again the season of
Love, wherein viewers will get cuddled in the love trap of their favorite on screen pair,
Karan Kundra and Kritika Kamra. Yes, we are talking about the
Season 2 of Kitani Mohabbat Hai on Imagine. The show is all set for a new beginning and at the outset, TellyBuzz talks to
Nikhil Madhok, Head Marketing and Communications, Imagine. The channel head talks about the plans related to KMH Season 2, about
setting a trend in itself by bringing in a new season for a daily soap,
on the favorite pairing of Karan and Kritika and much more..
Kitani Mohabbat Hai is finally back with a sequel. What do you have to say from the channel's perspective? When we launched Season 1 of Kitani Mohabbat Hai, Ekta Kapoor was quite
clear that this love story for the youth will have a specific run of
episodes, unlike the other shows which go on for many years. She had a
plan of 7-8 months, but we wrapped it up in 6-7 months. However, we were very sure that we will be coming back with a Season 2. Now that the
show is happening, we are confident that it will run much longer than
the Season 1.
The first season of Kitani garnered a lot of
fan following. But this did not reflect in the ratings. Why do you think this happened?See there is an interesting point in this!! When
Kitani was on air, it was the only show which had two slots. Over the
time, we observed that our TVR got split between these two slots. The
combined ratings from these two slots came up to 2.5 TVR. So the issue
was not with the rating. We had a plan to run it for 7-8 months, but
when we saw a dip in rating, we quickly decided not to drag it and leave the audience with an urge to see more of this romance and magic. We
took a bit longer to get things rolling for Season 2; we wanted to
ensure that we have a good story that will keep the brand name of Kitani Mohabbat Hai on top. We have got so many plusses from Season 1, and the biggest asset is the superb chemistry between Karan Kundra and Kritika
Kamra. As you all know, they have been casted for Season 2 too
Was the channel at any time apprehensive in making a Season 2? Not at all!! As soon as we finished with Season 1, we started getting mails and messages in huge numbers. It is almost a year since the show ended, but believe it or not, we still continue to get requests from the loyal viewers of Kitani Mohabbat Hai, requesting us to bring back their
favorite show. In fact, we are open to feed backs coming from you, fans. We would like to welcome suggestions for the new screen names for Karan and Kritika. We would want the fans to get involved in the development
of the show.
This is the first daily soap that will see a Season 2, that too due to public demand. Your take on this. Yes, till now we have seen Seasonal concepts for the popular reality shows.
This is a new trend that we are coming up with. We have been working on
the product for quite a while now. We are looking into all the finer
details, and this will be better in terms of look and feel, and
characterization. We are actively working on the marketing and
promotional strategies for the show. Presently, work is on for the first promo of the show. We will be going on floors very soon, and overall we are excited.
When exactly did the channel take the decision of getting the show back?See, soon after the first season ended, we had told our fans that we will
come back with a Season 2. So you can say that this decision was taken
last year. We expected Season 2 to get on air in July 2010, but it took a bit longer than expected. Having said this, we are happy with the
script we have got. Also, we had to look into the dates of Karan and
Kritika. They were doing different shows, and we had to wait for them.
What are the steps that the channel is taking to make the sequel better than the first one, in terms of ratings? We will be focussing a lot on promoting the show. Also, we are looking at
all the minute details like the look and feel, characterization, the way they speak, the way they carry themselves, their hair style, dialogue
delivery etc. The magic will happen when everything will come together,
and you will see it in the first episode. If viewers have enjoyed the
first season, we are confident that they will doubly enjoy Season 2. I
would say Season 2 of Kitani Mohabbat Hai will be a bigger hit.
Can we call it a sequel? We have heard that the story will be a fresh one and not a continuation to the first. Yes, this is a Season 2 and not a sequel. We will have a fresh story to
tell. The factors that we carry forward from Season 1 are the chemistry
between the lead pair, the magic that they are capable of creating on
screen. We will retain the same soundtrack of the show, as that was a
big hit. The track has become a part of the KMH brand, and we do not
want to separate it. You must be aware that the ring tone of Kitani was a massive hit.
What do you have to say about the huge fan base that Karan Kundra and Kritika Kamra have got thro the show? That's something fantastic!! Usually, it takes a couple of years for an actor
to achieve a loyal fan base, but they have managed to get it in just a
couple of months. The best part is that the fans have stayed pretty
loyal to them; they want to know what is happening in their lives even
when the show is not on. This speaks of their genuine passion. There is a big demand to see them back as a couple on screen, and they feel that
is when the ultimate magic will happen. Frankly speaking, I am also a
big KMH fan and I am excited to see them together on screen.
How will their characters in Season 2 be etched? Give us an idea. I cannot talk much about it right now. All I can say is that, it will be very different from Season 1.
Can you tell us something about the concept? It will be produced by Balaji Telefilms. The setting of the love story
this time will be different. First season saw the love story kick start
in a hill station, then moving forward in Mumbai. The typical nok-jhok
between Arjun and Aarohi was a big hit, and we will be keeping that
flavour intact. It will not be a typical love story; there will be ego
clashes even now.
A brief on the other prominent actors in the show? We have heard that Mohan Kapoor has bagged a pivotal role. We have not started with the shoot, so I do not know the names that have
been locked. I think Mohan Kapoor will be in the show. We will be
getting some fresh faces, based on the character that we are playing on.
We have heard that Season 2 might be loosely based on the movie Satte Pe Satta. Not at all!! We do not need any movie for inspiration.
Is the show being developed by the same creative team who were involved in making the first? From
Imagine's point of view, the team will be same. You have to ask Balaji Telefilms to know more.
We have heard that the show is going on floors in the first week of September. When can we see the launch happening? We will be announcing the launch date very soon. We are finalizing all
details as of now; you should see the promo hit the screens in another
10-14 days.
What do you have to tell the loyal viewers who are now thrilled with the channel's decision to get back their favorite show?We basically want to tell them two things. Firstly, it is time to
celebrate for KMH fans, as their loved show is back with Karan and
Kritika. Secondly, they need to spread the news to as many people as
they can. If more and more people watch the show this time, better will
it be for the success of the brand KMH. This will also provide us with a good incentive to work forward. We need the much needed public support
to take the show to a higher level. Last but not the least, look for the promos very soon!
What can the viewers expect from Season 2? What time slot can we hope for this time?KMH has always shown romance better than anywhere else. This will be a
fresh story, which will basically start with the whole process of the
lead pair falling in love. We will have some fresh elements in the show. Obviously, we will slot KMH season 2 at a prime time slot. We will also want to ask the loyal fans of the show to give us a feedback on their
suitable time to watch KMH.

Imagine set for a revamp in September

Imagine TV plans to bring in 5-6 new fictional shows soon....
Imagine TV has been hovering around the 80-90 GRP mark for quite a while and
has not been able to make a big breakthrough in terms of rating. The
fact that
SAB TV has over taken them in the GRP rates must be a concerning fact for the channel.
As a result of this the channel is working on some new and different
concepts both in fiction as well as non-fiction to give them the much
needed impetus. As a first step towards improvement the channel gave an
abrupt end to their fiction shows like
Kashi,
Jamunia and
Devi after the show failed to deliver.
The buzz is that months of August and September are very crucial for ongoing fiction shows on
Imagine. The channel is planning for a major revamp sometime in September
wherein they will be coming up with at least 5-6 new fiction shows.
An industry source tells us, "
Imagine is in talks with plenty of production houses and as many as 6 new fictional shows are in pipeline.
Balaji Telefilms is reading itself to launch the much awaited sequel of Kitani Mohobbat Hai sometime in septmber.
Rajshri Productions who is presently producing
Do Hanson Ka Jodaa for the channel has another show coming.
Shashi Mittal makers of Sajan Ghar Jaana Hai have a show in pipeline for
Imagine. Talks are on with
Shakuntalam Tlefilms,
Sagar Arts,
Paresh Rawal's Playtime Creations and
Swastik Pictures for fiction shows."
Meanwhile
Imagine will be launching a very unique chat show with female celebrities
Meethi Chhoori No.1 in August.
We tried calling
Saurabh Tewari, programming head
Imagine and even sent him a text message but did not get any response.
While it is a do or die situation for the presently running shows on
Imagine; viewers can surely look forward to some brand new programming on the channel in the coming month.

Pre- production work on the sequel of,
Kitne Mohobbat Hai is on full swing'
As accounted earlier that
Imagine TV's serial
Kitani Mohabbat Hai was popular among
the viewers because of the on screen chemistry shared between
Karan Kundra and
Kritika Kamra. But it could never achieve a
mark on the TRP ratings due to which the channel had to call off the
serial.
But it seems this time the viewers choice has been strongly considered and
finally after receiving innumerable petition mails and messages from the fans, on public demand the channel and
Ekta Kapoor is all grooved to produce a sequel
of the same.
So we have some information to cool down anxiety of
our readers about the story line and cast of the serial..
The
latest buzz is that the serial will not continue from the point where it had ended instead; it will have a completely new story based on the
romantic narratives from the novel Mills & Boons.
Also as far as the casting of the serial is concerned, the viewers are surely in
for a treat as they will get an opportunity to re-enjoy the chemistry of
Karan Kundra and
Kritika Kamra and the casting for other
characters is in full swing and the creatives are planning to wind it up in 2-3 weeks.
So viewers can now look forward to watch their
long awaited show Kitne Mohobbat Hai in Mills & Boons style.

The continuous outbursts of fans has in fact forced the channel to
think seriously about a sequel for the most popular show Kitani Mohabbat Hai..
Karan Kundra and Kritika Kamra have today become big names in the television industry,
courtesy the enormous fan following that they were bestowed with, for
essaying the very cute love birds
Arjun and Arohi in
Imagine and Balaji Telefilms' Kitani Mohabbat Hai. Karan and Kritika were a hit as a Jodi ever since the inception of the show, and went on to have a
hug fan base. But the loyal viewers of the show got a jolt when
Kitani Mohabbat Hai was given an abrupt end
by the channel in September last year.
This actually brought
huge uproar, and the fans started sending petitions to the channel
demanding a sequel of the show.
According to our source, "The
extremely angry fans flooded the email inboxes of Imagine and its
executives and demanded an explanation for the abrupt end, and also
requested for the return of the show. In fact, during the course of one
weekend alone, over 6400 fans signed a petition urging the channel to
bring back their favorite show. We have now got into the New Year, but
this does not stop the fans from continuing with their petitions and
requests. All this has made the channel to think seriously, and it now
looks as though the channel has understood the huge potential that
Kitani Mohabbat Hai has when it comes to the fan following".
The latest news on this front is that talks are certainly on between the channel and production house for a sequel.
A little birdie tells us, "The continuous outburst of fans has in fact
forced the channel to work on the sequel. Talks are certainly on, and
the channel and production house have taken it ahead. Though the plans
are still on paper, it seems as though there are bright chances of the
sequel coming up. The production house has started to work on the
script, but is tight-lipped at the moment. The channel and production
house do realize that if at all they are bringing back the love story of Arjun and Arohi, the script this time has to be bigger and better. If
all goes well,
Karan Kundra and
Kritika Kamra will
continue to be the lead pair in the sequel, while the production house
might go on a look out for fresh cast for the other characters".
If our sources are to be believed, things will be very clear by mid May or June. It is also heard that the abrupt ending given to Sony's Pyaar Ka
Bandhan which had
Kritika Kamra in it, is
proof enough that the planning for the sequel is certainly on.
When contacted,
Kritika Kamra told us, "Yes, I have also heard that talks are on for a
sequel of
Kitani Mohabbat Hai. But I have not been approached so far for it".
Karan Kundra too echoed the same and said, "Though I have not been directly approached, I have heard that talks are on for the same between the
production house and channel. But nothing is clear as of now".
We sent a text message to Shailja Kejriwal, EVP Content, Imagine but we
did not get a response from her.
We also sent a text message to
Ekta Kapoor but did not get any revert.
Guess it will be a
huge moral victory for the loyal fans of the show, if they do see their
favorite show coming back'.

https://www.india-forums.com/tellybuzz/article.asp?id=6798Harsh Rohatgi has been a key member of the management team of
Imagine since its inception. He earlier held the position of EVP ' Revenue Management and New Ventures. Turner General
Entertainment Networks India Ltd., as a part of their restructuring
move, has promoted Harsh as the
Head ' Content and Communication of its flagship Hindi GEC,
Imagine TV with immediate effect.
Harsh Rohatgi will now look into the creative, strategic, marketing,
commercial and management functions of
Imagine which will include Programming, Marketing,
Communication, Commercial, Research and Strategic Planning.
Here is Harsh Rohatgi in an exclusive conversation with TellyBuzz..How is it to head the team at Imagine? It's pretty good. I am gearing up
for the challenge.
What are the plans ahead for you and your
team? There will be no radical change as such. It is just that we will have a change in the way in which we approach things. We will be
working more on the daily fiction shows. We will see new and interesting plots coming. We will continue to work with the top production houses
like Balaji Telefilms, Sphere Origin, BBC etc. We want to maintain an
edge when it comes to innovative non reality shows, and good fiction
concepts.
Can you give us few examples? We have Desi
Girl coming shortly, which is a good example of cross pollinating ideas. It is an interesting show that will bring together the urban and rural
set ups. In the next five weeks, we should be launching two good fiction shows. We also have a reality show coming, which is based on the lines
of a show aired in the Turner channel in Korea.
How has IPL
affected the viewership of Imagine programs?IPL has affected all
channels equally. Set Max had a GRP of above 450 during IPL, and I
believe that more than 250 GRPs came from the GEC viewers. I would say
that,
Imagine lost nearly 10-12% viewership during this
time.
Imagine has always come up with innovative concepts
when it comes to non fiction. What's your take on it?Well,
audience is willing to watch newer concepts, and we are ready to
experiment. That's what I would say.
Do you think that the
second season of Swayamvar featuring Rahul Mahajan created less buzz
when compared to Rakhi Sawant? It's not like that. The timing was also different this time when compared to the last season. Even then,
there was an overall buzz about the show, and we had reactions coming
in.
Are you now planning a third season of Swayamvar on Imagine? Yes, talks are certainly on with
few people.
Is it that the cricketers are being targeted this time? I would not comment on it, as we are talking to many
people as of now.
Tell us something about Desi Girl?Desi Girl is again a good concept. We will see some great interaction
between the urban and rural people. It's a fun show, and will be
interesting to watch.
When is Desi Girl to launch? Desi Girl will launch on 21st May. It is a weekend show, and will air every
Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The concept is for 8 weeks.
Imagine has seen a lot of item girls like Rakhi
Sawant, Kashmera Shah, Sambhavna etc being offered limelight. Is this
intentional to grab more eye balls? They are TV's friendly
characters, isn't it?
How is your present fiction line up
doing? We are doing really well. We have some top shows like
Bandini,
Jyoti,
Do Hanson Ka Jodaa. We have two relatively new
shows in
Kashi and
Jamunia which will take time to get a hold on the
audience.
Which according to you is the best fiction show on
your channel?Bandini of course!!
We have heard that a
sequel of Kitani Mohabbat Hai is being planned. So can you update us
about the plans?
Yes, the show is being brought back, courtesy
fans' demand. The show is now in its planning stage. Your
GRP's have always remained between the 90- 100 GRP mark. How do you see
it progressing? In another few weeks' time, we should get to that 120+ mark. With the introduction of new programs, we will surely want
to push the mark further ahead.
There has been a trend
observed wherein, the channel gets a push in GRPs only when the reality
shows are on. Will you not want more consistency coming from the fiction shows when it comes to ratings? Yes, this is one reason why we
have now decided that all our reality shows will be getting weekend
slots, rather than daily slots. We will not disturb the fiction line-up
from now to accommodate non fiction shows. This is why we have placed
Desi Girl at the weekend slot.
What is the next objective
when it comes to Imagine? We will want to reach the 200+ GRP
mark first, and take things from there..

sequels. Ekta Kapoor's Balaji Telefilms once produced a sequel to their
show
Kutumb on
Sony.
Now, Kapoor's
Kitani
Mohabbat Hai that went off air from
Imagine last year is
ready to make a comeback with Season Two.
The show is expected to
return to the tube in two months on the same channel. Kritika Kamra and
Karan Kundra, the lead pair of the daily, will continue as the
protagonists this time too.
The story is expected to be
different from Season One ' replete with new characters, for which, the
auditions are on. Kamra and Kundra, both of whom are Kapoor's
discoveries, were romantically linked in the course of the show and are
currently seen as competitors on
Zara Nachke Dikha.

Karan
Kundra and Kritika
Kamara Karan Kundra, Kritika Kamra, and their legion of fans
will be pleased to hear this. The sequel to Kitani Mohabbat Hai is
indeed coming soon on Imagine TV.
"Auditions for the same have
begun. New characters will be introduced in the show. Snehal Sahay is
among those who've auditioned for it. Though they are currently busy
with Zara Nachke Dikha, Karan and Kritika are certain to be part of it.
Without them, there will be no show. The story will continue from where
it left. In all likelihood, the show will commence from July," said a
reliable source.
When contacted, Karan Kundra said, "Honestly
speaking, I haven't gotten word on this yet. I've been too busy with
Zara Nachke Dikha. Hopefully, things should become clear in the coming
days."
Kritika Kamra remained unavailable for comment.
"I
was informed about the sequel a month back. Since then, there has been
no word from Balaji. I'm hoping to be a part of the sequel. Actually, I
was surprised as to why was the show taken off air when it was doing
well." said another actor.
Fans across India and the world will
certainly welcome back the return of their favourite show.

It's nothing less than a
phenomenon to see how people have reacted to the news of this Balaji
Telefilms' daily coming back. Sadly, this popularity never got reflected in its TRPs, and that's why NDTV Imagine had to discontinue it.
However, the love and affection of the same fans has now forced Imagine
TV to bring back the show. Credit should be given to the new owners,
Turner Group.
