I.M Virani's father,Motilal Vrani is performing Saraswathi pooja and his wife,Ratanba comes in.She is a doting wife who is happy to have a husband like Motilal.They talk about their happily married life and Ratanba asks Motilal to keep flowers in her head,which he does.Both husband and wife are happy but they are also sad that their son,I M Virani,does not spend any time with them.He's sadden by the fact that his son speaks to him only once in 15days and that too on the intercom.He is also unhappy about the fact that the house is so large that one does not get to be with one's family.
The eldest son's wife and their son,Gaurav,is introduced.The wife is a spend thrift who is very fashion conscious.
IM Virani is introduced.He along with his sons come to Vaibhav Group Of Industries,,their industry.IMV and his sons are on the elevator and he instructs them to take him to the terrace as he has something important to say to them.
He looks at the view below and says that when he was on the foot path of the city,it used to appear very ugly to him but now that he is on the top everything appears very beautiful to him.He says that it is not important how far a man goes but only how high he climbs is of importance.
.He asks his eldest son,Siddarth how the city appears to him.His sons replies passionately that it looks very beautiful,as if an artist has painted it.IMV looks at him aghast.He turns to his younger sons and asks him the same question.He replies that the entire city is a shop of wealth and one can make money anywhere.IMV is proud of his son and informs him that he has arranged for his son's marriage with one of the weakthiest men who will him in realzing his dream project.Sid is not happen with this announcement and tells his dad that he ought to consult Vaibhav once before making such a decision.He says that there could be a possibility that he is in love with someone else.To this Vaibhav replies that he is in love with only one thing and that is Vaibhav Group Of Industries.This makes his father proud.Sid says that he ought to consult atleast their mother before taking such a decision.IMV rubbishes it and they proceed towars the conference haal.
Charulata Virani is introduced.She is incharge of Anand Aashram,an oldage home.She is very passionate about the people living there and ensures that all their needs are met.She enquires about an old man who celebrates his birthday on that day.The incharge informs her that she has not forgotten about it and his grand-daughter has come with a cake to celebrate his birthday.Charulata is surprised and wishes to meet her.
Charulata is annoyed and informs her (the grand daughter) that this man was deserted by his family and had someone not brought him there,he would have died.She tells her that she doe not want anyone from such a family to come and meet the old man.
To this,the grand-daughter says that her name id Devaki and after seeing the old man in a sad state the previous day,she could not but help feel sorry for him and that was why deceided to celebrate his birthday which was the next day.She tells Charulata that she has given him her telephone number and that he call her up whenever he wishes to.Charulata is impressed by this.
Devki is a young business woman who has just returned from England with an MBA degree from a top business school.She works for Rising Group,Vaibahv Group Of Industries' competitor.She is assigned the task of competing with IMV in an auction that is to take place.Devki is taken aback and calls her best friend up.She informs of the assignment that has been given to her and her friend too is taken aback.She give her courage and wishes Devki luck.Devki's friend is shocked and she picks up a magazine with IMV's picture on the cover page and refers to him as "papa".She tells herself that she has not told Debki about her identity because she was afraid she'll lose her once she gets to know of her real identity.IMV is holding a conference regarding Vaibhav's dream project.It is called Virani Floats,India's first floating hotel.He informs everybody about the site and tells them that it is a government property which is going to be sold on auction.
He pockets the one-rupee coin and leava for the auction.
IMV arrives at the auction site and Devki is thrilled to see him.But he ignores her walks away.
