The first episode of Bhagonwali - Baante Apni Taqdeer aired on Zee TV on December 6 opens with an introduction of the town of Kannauj in which the story is set.

The narrator also introduces a young and beautiful Runjhun (played by Nivedita Tiwari) who unlike other girls her age and from the same town ventures out of her house to work as well as run errands.

The story begins with Rajju Pandey, Runjhun's maternal uncle, talking on the phone with a business associate and boasting to him about his daughter Mahadevi whose results are expected that day.

Meanwhile, his wife Mittho taunts Mahadevi for failing three consecutive years. However, she suddenly changes her attitude and tone as soon as Rajju arrives. Rajju tells them that he has sent Runjhun to fetch the mark sheet. Hearing this, Mittho throws a tantrum and starts lamenting that the ill-fated Runjhun is sure to bring home bad news. Nani hears Mittho and hurls abuses at her for talking ill of Runjhun.

Runjhun picks up Mahadevi's marksheet, runs a few errands and proceeds home. On her way, she calls up Rajju to inform him of the result. However, Mittho snatches the phone from Rajjo and abuses Runjhun for being the reason behind Mahadevi's failure. Dejected, Runjhun hangs up.

Back in the Pandey household, Kalsanwali, the youngest daughter-in-law of the family, engages in a verbal and physical duel with her husband Vishnu. The two often fight and argue over trivial matters. This time, the topic of their altercation is the sacks of food grains that have been sent by Kalsanwali's parents. When Vishnu refuses to ask Rajju for help to get the sacks lifted, Kalsanwali suggests that he should ask Runjhun to get the work done. Not being able to reach a decision, the two continue their argument.

Runjhun reaches home and is handed over the next set of chores to do around the house. Mittho asks her to read out Mahadevi's results. To everyone's surprise, Mahadevi has passed the exam with flying colors. While Rajju and Mittho take credit for Mahadevi's success, Nani credits Runjhun for supporting Mahadevi through her academic year.

Rajju plans a feast for the evening to celebrate Mahadevi's success. Vishnu and Kalsanwali also join in. Rajju asks Runjhun to call Bantu, his second brother and his wife Billo into the living room.

Bantu and Billo are busy romancing in their room; Bantu pampering his fair and attractive wife with saris and jewellery. Runjhun bears Billo's ire when she knocks their door and requests them to join everyone. The story takes an interesting turn when Lakhan Mishra, Runjhun's paternal uncle finds her horoscope in the storeroom. The horoscope states that Runjhun is blessed with swarnbhag shree yog and will bring prosperity to the household she is in. Lakhan decides to exploit Runjhun to rid him of his poverty.

Runjhun gets sweets for the family to celebrate Mahadevi's success. The greedy family members leave nothing for Nani and Runjhun in the December 7 episode of Bhagonwali - Baante Apni Taqdeer on Zee TV.

Nani curses the rest for ill-treating Runjhun. However, she is happy that Runjhn's woes are about to come to an end as her paternal uncle Lakhan and his wife were going to arrive in the evening to take her with them.

Runjhun objects but Nani says that it was the only way to free her from the clutches of her maternal uncles and their wives.

Runjhun spends rest of the day running errands and doing household chores. Be it picking up loads of grains for Kalsanwali or ironing clothes for Mittho.

Meanwhile, Lakhan and his wife gear up to fetch Runjhun home so that they can encash on her 'good luck'. Will Runjhun be left to suffer at the hands of her mama and mamis or will it be the turn of her chacha and chachi now?
