A father has a special bond with the child but it cannot be compared to a mother's in my view. Tomorrow if I were to leave my wife i'd never cause further disharmony and unrest by fighting for custody, they would always remain with their mother if she is able. Unless of course they wanted to remain with their father.

Yes true. One of my friend's wife left home with daughter after about a year if marriage in India. He misses the daughter badly too, but I never asked him about custody laws in India. He has nit seen his daughter since then.
A mum has problems raising kids on her own too, n it's the kid that suffers too.
