Harshad Chopda & Aasiya Kaazi in Dharampatni

Inspired by the relationship of Kasturba and Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, Imagine TV is coming up with a new contemporary serial called 'Dharampatni'. The story is about the growth of a boy, troubled at first, into a strong and respected man, all through the love and support of his unwavering wife.

Beginning with both Kastur (Aasiya Kaazi)and Mohan(Harshad Chopda) unhappy with the partnership, the two believe they have found a way out of the union, but it isn't that simple. In Mohan's case, he has just returned from studying abroad which was financed by Kastur's family with the promise that the two would marry upon his return. Unaware of this deal until his homecoming. Mohan is now unable to pay the money back, as instead of completing a degree he frivolled away the money, and thus cannot escape the promise. For Kastur, Mohan's new condescending and pompous nature towards his culture offends her, but she sadly has no choice in the matter either.

To begin with the marriage is anything but wedded bliss with Kastur dealing with disdain from her mother- in-law and learning of Mohan's problems with alcohol and his womanizing ways. But their story soon takes a turn. While Kastur had always dreamt of marrying 'the perfect man', it is through her resilience and determination that she lets go of this fairytale and instead fights to make Mohan a highly regarded individual and the best version of himself. 'Dharam Patni' then follows the captivating story of the success of their life together following Kastur's positive influence on Mohan.
With a star filled cast of Harshad Chopra, Aasiya Kazi, Supriya Shukla, Gopi Desai, Mihika Verma and Aditi Shirwaiker, plus a fresh angle on a love story of a destined couple the show is all set to set the television ablaze on the 16th of August ' only on Imagine!

''Behind every successful man there is a woman'' is the thought upon which Dharampatni is based.
Dharampatni is the story of Kastur -- a simple, traditional Gujarati girl who gets married to Mohan. Mohan too belongs to the Gujarati community but has studied abroad and returned to India. Unbeknown to Kastur, Mohan agrees to marry her due to personal constraints rather than for love. Mohan has no affection or respect for Kastur as he looks down upon all Gujarati cultural values and traditional beliefs that Kastur embodies. Apart from being trapped in a loveless marriage; Kastur is in for a further shock when she finds out that Mohan is a good for nothing, who did not get a degree abroad and instead wasted all his time & resources. Instead of ruing her plight; through the strength of her character and her selfless spirit -- Kastur transforms Mohan from a common man into a great one. She makes Mohan believe in and achieve his true potential as a Gujarati. The show focuses upon Kastur's silent struggles, sacrifices and contributions which while going unnoticed; shape Mohan's journey towards greatness

NDTV Imagine's new show Dharampatni is actually a tale of a selfless wife. The character of 'ideal' wife, Kastur in the show is played by Aasiya Kazi. Kastur is simple by nature and deeply rooted to her Gujarati culture. Her husband Mohan Galla, to be played by Harshad Chopda, on the other hand, believes that culture and values are an albatross around the neck, and seeks to embrace modernity. The show highlights Kastur's journey, as she works tirelessly behind the scenes for Mohan's success and endeavours to make him understand the importance of being rooted.
