Krishna notes Sudama's unease @ his question about Sudama's family. JS ask him to say more, and Krishna jokes to Sudama that he was trying to cover up his past, but his bhabis keep bringing it up 😆 Sudama too is amused.
The flashback shows how Rishi Sandipan teaches the disciples that begging is a part of their regimin, but that they're not to continue after 5 homes, no matter what the results. Sudama asks him why, and the Rishi gives some answer about the motives behind it. After that session, he dismisses them to go around and beg for their food.
So Sudama and Krishna go around, and do beg. Initially, they get people who are generous enough to give them something. However, on one occasion, they are turned down by just about everybody, and the 5th home that they visit, the hostess tells them that there is another place where they can get pretty generously fed.
The child Sudama was excited @ this idea, but Krishna reminded him that they were not to go beyond 5 houses, as per their guru's instructions. Sudama made some rationale about nobody, including the guru not knowing. He then said that he had a stomach ache, and so told Krishna to go ahead. He then went to the place where the distribution of food was happening, and got himself a generous helping. As he was about to eat, Krishna arrived, and Sudama was feeling guilty. He however told Krishna that he had 2 rotis for him, 2 for gurumata and 2 for himself.
Sudama finished his own portions, and Krishna offered him one of his, which Sudama happily accepted. He then accepted the other as well, and then asked Krishna about his own, but Krishna told him he'd manage. Krishna then jokingly poked him in the stomach.
Back to the present, adult Sudama recollects the other day when he was given alms by a woman, and how he had been knocked out and a dog had eaten it. He told Krishna that he understood what he had been trying to tell him then, and felt that Krishna was trying to tell him somethng even when this happened. Krishna denied it. The ladies are amused.
Sudama then tells Krishna that now, he has no problems following the rules, and doesn't break them the way he did then. Krishna asks him how does he deal w/ his own hunger? Sudama tells him that after being unsuccessful, het really doesn't have an appetite for anything. Satyabhama & Jambavati all become sad hearing this.
