"Rihhaee" means "to be set free". This is a weekly half-hour series,
inspired by true-life cases of crimes against women. Every story is
spread over two episodes. Set in an urban environment , the show deals
with different forms of atrocities meted out to women, from various
parts of the country. It delves into issues like alcoholism abuse,
infertility, adoption, old age problems, widowhood, rape, female
infanticide, domestic violence, dowry etc.
Crimes are investigated by a quasi-judicial organisation - NCCW
(National Commission for Crimes Against Women) The commission is headed
by a retired Chief Justice of the Supreme court and has in its fold a
few other key members including our lead protagonists Madhavi Rajput
and Anupam Sinha.
"Rihhaee" while sharing the pain and trauma of hundred's of sufferring women always ends on a note of hope, as the victims are set free and the perpetrators of the crimes are brought to justice. It is about freedom from opression. It is about hope and justice.
