Some small screen debutants seem to be striking the right chord with the audience

The growth of the Indian television industry in the last couple of years can be described as phenomenal.From just a state owned channel,the Hindi TV industry today has a bouquet of various channels and is the true peddler of small and big dreams.Predictably,one gets to see fresh faces taking their first bow on the various shows and there are some who manage to grab lots of eyeballs in the crowd of myriad debutants.AT picks out some promising faces who are the current flavour of tellytown.Shashank Vyas and Pratyusha Banerjee from Balika Vadhu,Ashnoor Kaur from Shobha Somnath Ki,Ragini Nandwani from Mrs.Kaushik Ki Paanch Bahuein,Karan Singh from Maryada... Lekin Kab Tak,Shaheer Shaikh and Soumya Seth from Navya,Kirti Nagpure from Parichay.
Why does one get to see so many new faces on TV today Some characters and roles demand fresh faces,who have no baggage of a set image.When we work with them we reinvent ourselves.Its a wrong notion that one works with newcomers only for commercial reasons.Frankly,grooming newcomers requires lot of time and patience its very tough but at the same time its rewarding.I feel Shaheer (Sheikh) will be the next big thing in TV he has good looks with a dash of vulnerability, says producer Rajan Shahi.
Show makers feel new actors are the best bet as they are open to learning.Producer Siddharth Tewary says,Television is about characters people know actors by their character names,so casting fresh faces ensure that they dont have any history of their previous work.They are also open to learning which does come with its pros and cons we make them go through major training and really work hard on them to showcase their real talent.Shaheer and Soumya look extremely promising to me as they have a different freshness in them.
With so many shows airing on TV,producer Saurabh Tewari says that there is a need for fresh talent.With so many new channels and shows,one cant repeat the same faces again and again.Everyday there are 40 shows that go on air in a day at the same time there are only six to seven top actors who can be repeated.But as all these actors are mostly in their 30s,it becomes difficult to cast them in the lead role.Audiences also tend to get bored seeing the same actors, says Saurabh.But most of these hardly know to act.Does it get difficult to work with them Its difficult to find fresh faces who are good actors but with training and shooting for hours,they tend to get a hold on acting, shares Saurabh.
But how easy is it for the audience to connect with these faces as they keep changing everyday Its all about viewers connecting with the character connects to the character.Shashank and Pratyusha look promising on screen as they have a pleasing personality,acting ability and they have a solid foundation of the character, says director Siddharth [email protected]
