How to use photoshop(PSP)

can some one help me about photoshop?i tried banner maker pro, but that is expired.now i only have photoshop.i couldn't understand how to make a picture transparent like banner maker.can some one tell me how to make a banner with it?

thank u minnieme. But kushi can u put a tutorial how to make banners with psp.how to make effects like kavyanjali, kzk and all. In banner maker there is a option of making image transparent as we like but here is there anything like that.please help me.......
