| Stills from Sarabhai vs Sarabhai | Some Instant Khichdi is set to tickle the tastebuds of the Sarabhais. But will the self-proclaimed high society priestess, Maya Sarabhai (Ratna Pathak Shah) digest it? "That's to be seen," says producer J D Majethia, better known in the small screen world as JD.
In an instance of soap crossover, the characters of both these Star One serials will be visiting each other — bringing the house down together. These two episodes will be aired on April 18 and 19.
"We were planning to bring the Instant Khichdi and Sarabhai vs Sarabhai families together for the last six months," informs JD. "Both have unique characters with peculiar mannerisms and together, they are sure to be a riot."
The weekly Sarabhai, which airs every Monday, takes on the battle between the high-life loving Maya (Ratna Pathak Shah) and her daughter-in-law Monisha (Rupali Ganguli), who is always on the lookout for cheap bargains.
To add to Maya's woes is husband Indravadhan (Satish Shah) who always sides with Monisha!
While her elder son Sahil (Sumit Raghavan) has to do the fine balancing act between mother and wife, the younger son Roshesh (Rajesh Kumar) is a complete mamma's boy.
"The storyline will have this hunt for long-lost relatives. Indravadhan will have his kin coming over, but Maya will be reluctant to renew ties with her long-lost kin as they are not exactly high flying.
These relatives will turn out to be Hansaben (Supriya Pathak) and Praful (Rajeev Mehta) besides Babujee (Anang Desai) and Jayshree (Vandana Pathak)," says JD.
This will set the stage for the Khichdi gang to enter the Sarabhais' ivory tower, while in the following episode of Instant Khichdi the Sarabhais will be invited over to the Khichdi homeland, with probably a ride in their aircraft currently being used by Hansaben to dry papads and clothes!
This crossover also has sisters Ratna Pathak Shah and Supriya Pathak together on the small screen after Anand Mahendroo's Idhar Udhar.
Incidentally, on April 1, there will also be a back-to back telecast of 22 episodes of Instant Khichdi from 10 am to 9 pm as part of the Full Day Fool Kiye Jaa campaign. |
