Hi All, this is my first written update. :)
Since there is no update from 27 Dec - 2nd Jan, I thought I will the whole summary..
Harivansh Tiwary and his wife are tensed about how to give the required dowry and bike for aarti's wedding.
At his government office, his senior collegue presents a plan to Tiwary.
He says they have to present a Tender to a certain person Kushwan from which they can make good money.
Tiwary shocked berates the collegue over the idea on which the collegue
retorts on how he intends to marry of two of his daughters with his
principles.
Tiwary depressed over how he has always had to face humiliation for being poor, and aarti's marriage proposal gets home drunk.
His wife asks what happened so bad that he broke the oath he gave to her 20 years ago on Bhole nath.
He doesn't say anything and goes to sleep.
Next day she notices that he has left for office without taking his
tiffin with him and asks Pooja to run along on the cycle and give it to
him.
Meanwhile, Tiwary is at the office sadly thinking about the Dowry, how they were insulted at the wedding, and by the collegue.
He day dreams about buying a bike for the prospective groom and Aarti and Pooja's happy faces.
He is broken out of his reverie by Kushwan who greets him and presents
him with a sweet box saying its to celebrate his getting the tender
finally.
Despite Tiwary's objections, Kushwan presents the box to him and
leaves. Almost immedietly anti corruption bureau officials sweep in and
find money inside the sweet box. (I don't know how they reached so soon
as if they were waiting behind the doors or something. )
They check the numbers on the notes and say its the same that was planted. He is dragged by the police on charge of corrution.
The scene is witnessed by Pooja who has just arrived on her cycle.
Tiwary is trashed by the police.
Pooja rushes with the news to Ma and Aarti. They somehow rush to the
police station and plead to let them see Tiwary, but the officers are
non responsive.
And finally ask them to leave. Tiwart meanwhile is hearing everything from inside the jail where he is hiding out of sight.
While leaving, Pooja senses something and tries to peek.
Tiwary who is in his undergarments crawls further to hide so that his family can't see him like this.
Finally Aarti calls Pooja and she leaves.
Tiwary is taken to court where the Prosecuter presents the case about
how the bribe money was found in the sweet box by the corruption
officer.
They present Kushwan as well through whom they acted.
Before the judge can pass judgement Tiwary pleads to the Judge that he
is innocent and to check his service record as they are clean.
Judge based on service record allow bail to Tiwary, if anyone can pay
the required sum of 25000 Rs. On Aarti's request, the judge allows them
a time of 24 hours.
The next day also happens to be Tiwary's birthday.
The family asks everyone for help but all refuse in one way or the other.
Finally a neighbour boy Billu helps and gives the sum and Tiwary is released.
Unable to face his family Tiwary hides in his room. He takes his framed
photo from the bedside table and breaks it. Ma soothes him to care
about his people, his pillars of strength his family. Seeing her father
like this Pooja breaks down and is consoled by Aarti.
Harivansh decides to end his life and gets up. He cuts the cake baked by the girls and Ma breathes a sigh of relief.
Harivansh Tiwary leaves for work when a phone call comes.
Aarti's rishta is broken and Ma and she try to hide this from Pooja and
Tiwary but Pooja hears everything by hiding behind the door.
At office, The Peon and small staff members come and show their support
to Tiwary. The senior collegue and Kushwan are celebrating with sweets.
Tiwary accuses him and warns him that Bhole nath is watching
everything.
The collegue retorts "Khud police ki lathi lha ke aaye he aur humein suna rahe he".
He angrily asks everyone to disperse. (I don't know exaclty what happened or if Tiwary was suspended. I suppose he was)
Tiwary sadly leaves the office where he is met by Pooja on her cycle.
He tells her that he is going home and to move along. He walks
dejectedly on the road. Pooja( cutely) follows him dragging her cycle.
When he turns around she mumble that she though since she was also going home, she may as well go behind him.
Tiwary smiles and to cheer up her daughter gets on the cycle and races home. Pooja is happy seeing this.
On reaching home, a tired Tiwary is greeted by Ma who assures him not
to worry about the money as they have enough ration for 3-4 months.
Kushwan and the senior collegue plan to torture the family more and pay the electricity people to cut the electricity at night.
The line is cut but Pooja calls Billu and he fixes it. He and him
mother come home and tells to family to not to hesititate if there is
any need for help. And also asks them why they are worrying so much as
they can ask help from the Neta who helped Pooja, Brijbushan.
Pooja and Aarti search frantically for Brijbushan's business card but they don't find it.
Next day, Tiwary overhears his family discussing budget cuts and how
they will go without milk and ghee and stuff so that he can have it.
He leaves home.
Aarti sensing something comes out but does not see her father anywhere.
