Sixteen year old Helly Shah could have been mistaken for another bubbly school girl, until she stepped into the room 'dressed' for the interaction. Helly's made a dream debut in a daily soap, — Alaxmi — Humari Super Bahu as the female lead.

Last seen in the show Gulaal, Helly talks animatedly about how her life has taken a new turn. This Amdavadi says, "My acting career started off when I was in Class VIII. I love being a part of the television industry. I think I have progressed a bit as an actressfrom my last show."

Ask her how she is going to convince the audience in her roleplay as a married girl and Helly is quick to point out, "My character in the show is not very matured so it's easy. She is a fun-loving girl. I think the audiences will be convinced."

Helly wants to concentrate on her work now. She says, "I want to study Biotechnology after I complete school. But there's time for that and I don't want to make any concrete plans. I have to shoot for long hours but I also need to balance it with my studies." Happy with the response she has got till now, Helly says, "My friends and teachers at school saw my show and told me that I looked awesome which boosted my confidence."

Helly, who has made Mumbai her home now, misses Ahmedabad a lot. "Life in Mumbai is very fast-paced. You have to be constantly on the go. Ahmedabad is much more relaxed."

Will Alaxmi on Life OK bring good luck to Shanti Niwas?

Wednesday, July 4, 2012, 11:32

Life OK's new comedy, Alaxmi, is about a girl, who uses amusing antics to set a family downside up.

Historically, Dwarka, the holy city of Gujarat has sunk six times. But, The Kapadia family of Dwarka may sink the city one more time, if they don't stop fighting amongst each other. In a strange way the Kapadias are the misfortune of Dwarka. But what happens if they rope in a misfortune of another village to turn their misfortune into fortune?

Life OK's new show, Alaxmi, that premiered on Monday, 2nd July at 9 PM, is a strangely funny new comedy on Laxmi, a young girl who is deemed to be panvati or bad luck. The entire Kapadia family - Mohandas (Raman Kumar), Natwarlal (Anang Desai), Ram (Sunil Vishrani), Laxman (Karan Mehta), Bharat (Ujjwal Chopra), with their respective better halves, Neelam (Purvi Vyas), Heera (Priyamvada) and Panna (Disha Savla) and all the kids were present to welcome their Super Bahu - Alaxmi (Helly Shah) into "Kargil," ie., Shanti Niwas. Also, making a special appearance on earth to welcome her Alaxmi bahu into the house was swargvasi Dadi (Supriya Pathak).

'Alaxmi' as rechristened by the villagers is a walking-talking riot, who is hyperactive, very talkative and absolutely ludicrous and whimsical in her way of life. She means well, but somehow always creates havoc wherever she goes, for whoever she talks to. 'Khalbhali hai par suna hai, dil ki bhali hai', is what the villagers say about Alaxmi - but then everybody runs miles away when they see her coming. She rings in bad news, bad luck and somehow her antics disrupt all harmony in the village.

But these misfortunate antics of Alaxmi are the perfect antidote to the bickering Kapadia family of Shanti Niwas that is fighting over the family fortune. Mohan Das of the Kapadia family is certain - Alaxmi's comical and unusual ways of dealing with situations will surely set the Kapadia family straight. He is determined to turn this 'Kargil war zone' into a peace-loving home for his six sons and daughter-in-laws - even if it means getting his son married to someone considered Alaxmi or 'bad luck'.

"There is plenty of quarrelling, bickering and emotional ups and downs in everybody's lives. We want to make sure the viewer forgets about his own reality and enjoys his TV-viewing time. Alaxmi is the perfect example of learning how to harness negative situations and turn them around positively. That's how life is OK," says Ajit Thakur, General Manager, Life OK.

But what will happen when the Kapadia family finally unlock the Pandora's Box and bring Alaxmi to their house? To find out, watch this brand new comedy of errors, of mayhem and havoc, unravel in this TV series full of laughs, irony and crazy ideas to restore peace.

Tune in to Alaxmi from at 9 PM on Life OK, to watch the story unfold over a few laughs and chuckles.
