Anandi's life was pretty bleak after her fallout with Jagya. That is, until Dadisa set her eyes on Shiv as a possible suitor for Anandi. Shiv is an ideal guy, personally and professionally. And we bring you the reasons why he's winning hearts at warp speed.
1. He is in a Position of Power
Shiv entered Balika Vadhu as the collector of Jaitsar. Shiv has all the qualities necessary to be an ideal partner and in addition, he is in a position of power! We love men who exude power, and especially those who use their position for the good of people. And Shiv uses his power with the right mix of responsibility and aplomb.
2. Shiv is Fair
It doesn't mean his complexion. He is tall, dark and handsome. But Shiv is, in a big way, responsible for Jaitsar's progress. And when people's future depends on a single person, he better be good. And Shiv is as fair and honest as they come. He has shown his just side in the way he deals with the villagers. He has always maintained that he doesn't listen to people's opinion but forms his own. And that is the right thing to do.
3. Shiv is Helpful
Anandi is no babe lost in the woods, and has led her life with no help from anyone, but everybody needs a helping hand now and then. Shiv has, from the beginning, gone out of his way to help Anandi and anyone else in need of it. Be it a farmer with a stuck bullock cart or Anandi's school in need of a grant, you can count on Shiv to go out of his way and help people who could use some assistance.
4. Shiv has saved Anandi's life
Every girl needs a knight in shining armour and Shiv has taken over that role for Anandi. Shiv has saved Anandi's life, even at the risk of his own life. Even when he first appeared in Anandi's life, an out of control horse too, failed to deter Shiv as he rushed and plunged to save Anandi. And that was not all, he also ran to Anandi's rescue as she was threatened by gun wielding child marriage advocates. Anandi is definitely grateful to him, and Shiv scores well in our books for this too!
5. Shiv Loves Anandi
Shiv is a gentleman through and through. And when such a man falls in love, it is for keeps. Shiv's feelings for Anandi have grown from respect and admiration to love. His intentions about her are pretty honourable and he made this amply clear when Dadisa proposed marriage between the two. Shiv realized his love for Anandi and it is growing with every day. After all the heartbreak that she has been through, Anandi deserves such love for sure.
6. Shiv Respects and Supports Anandi
Anandi is the epitome of an ideal Indian woman. She's strong, sensitive, kind-hearted and always puts others in front of herself. But Jagya's rejection has caused her self esteem to crumble and she has never really recovered from it. But Shiv looks at Anandi in a very different way. He is in awe of the strength of her character and respects her just as much he loves her. And this respect will go a long way in restoring Anandi's self-respect. And that kind of a positive influence is very desirable.
7. Shiv is Well-liked by Everyone
We all know that Shiv is a great guy, and the fact that everyone likes him is testimony to that fact. Not that he is out to win a popularity poll, but everyone from the Singh family to the people of Jaitsar love and respect him. And he is best friends with Ashima, which improves his trustworthiness to a great extent. Even his detractors give him grudging respect. And of course, no one can be as fond of him as our beloved Dadisa.
8. Shiv Never Backs Down
As the collector of Jaitsar, Shiv has to face challenges on a daily basis. But he is never one to back down or look the other way. We have seen Shiv confront those who were opposed to the canal project, expose Heth Singh's henchmen and also defend Anandi against guns and goons. Ek baar jo Shiv ne commitment kar di, to wo apne aap ki bhi nahi sunta. And we love men who are true to their words.
9. Shiv has the Right Beliefs
Shiv might be an urban boy, but he has the basics about a place like Jaitsar right. And he has the right beliefs and values that can take the place forward. At the beginning itself, he made it clear that he would not stand for child marriage and the horrible treatment given to child widows. Not just that, in his personal life too, he impressed us by agreeing to marry a once married Anandi without a second thought.
10. Anandi, too, Admires Shiv
Anandi, as we all know, is a one man woman. All her life, she has had eyes only for Jagya. Even after Jagya's betrayal, Anandi never let any man close to her. But Shiv has managed to be an exception to this norm. He has won nothing but admiration in Anandi's eyes by being honest and upright with her. What's more, he has also found a way in her dreams as her knight on a white stallion. And if Anandi is influenced, so are we.
