"Love Marriage ya Arranged marriage" explores the debate between love marriages and arranged marriages without taking sides. It states that marriage is an everyday partnership where sometimes you need to arrange the love and at other times you have to love the arrangement. It looks at this concept through the story of two best friends - Mansi and Shivani, who are polar opposite in their attitudes and belief, but have the same passion, and commitment towards their relationships and a happy marriage. Mansi and Shivani are best friends. Mansi comes from a well to do family, very feminine and every Indian man's ideal wife. She is conservative and maintains that she will marry whoever her parents chooses for her. Shivani is the antithesis of Mansi. She comes from a humble family, she is aggressive and guys look at her more like a buddy than a girl, yet she is not a tomboy. She has taken charge of the household, making her independent. She has a shop named "Shagun-Shaadi Ka", in which she sells everything in regards to marriage like utilities, arranging brass-band, ghodi and so on and so forth. However, unlike Mansi, she fancies a love marriage yet their friendship remains strong as ever.

A marriage in India is not just between two people but the entire family. Going through the ups and downs and beautiful moments in marriage many ties may break, while many special bonds are formed.

Anup is a loner and an introvert, he doesn't open easily with anyone except with Netra, his cousin sister. He was sent by his mother to her maternal uncle where he got educated and finally managed to become a pilot because he loves flying, above the crowded world of his joint family where he got unfair treatment by his Badi Ma Raj Laxmi who always denied him the same advantage that she gave to her own children Bhushan, Sahil and Netra. All because his own father Gautam was a loser and a failure. He would have left the joint and lived away with his mother if he could, but Manjula did not want to break the joint family. His relationship with Mansi is uncomfortable and awkward because he had lived most of his life alone and even while working, he rarely came home and stayed in hotels more often. He has been an outsider to his joint family.

Sahil is the exact opposite of Anup. He is an extrovert and fun-loving, witty young man. He always manages to go against his family's wishes and irritate his mother Raj Laxmi who rules her family with an iron hand but is helpless against Sahil because he is her youngest child. Sahil too is an outsider to his joint family but in a different way. He has his own mind and uses the fact that he is the baby of the family to take undue advantage, He is very casual, irreverent, fun-loving and a rebel. He loves to break the family traditions and rules. He fell in love with Shivani and broke the family tradition of arranged marriages. But he won't leave his family. He loves his family in spite of being a rebel. He loves and respects Anup but never forgets to tease him for his aloofness. Anup too treats him like a kid brother.

Mansi is an all rounder... good at studies, singing, debating... the model student and child... at home and outside. Her middle class background has trained her to always live by the rule book... she believes that girls are home-makers... so their role in life is to get married, bear children and make a happy home... always keeping the family together. She totally believes that when it comes to choosing a life-partner parents always know the best. And so she subscribes to arranged marriages as opposed to love marriages. According to her when a girl and a guy are seeing each other they only show their best sides... one cannot make that the basis for a marriage.

Shivani is the antithesis of Mansi... a little jhalli... very boisterous and naughty... and not at all conscious of her feminity. Mansi would sometimes try to get her to dress a little feminine... do her hair properly... paint her nails... but Shivani would be so uncomfortable that she would walk around with a pained look and a plastic smile. Though Shivani herself has never fallen in love... or had romance in her life... but she believes in romance... and love being the only reason why two people should marry. She is totally against the concept of arranged marriage.

Shivani, a bubbly girl believing in love marriage. Her dad doesn't keep well, so the responsibility of managing the household falls on her shoulder. She runs a shop named "Shagun", where she sells all the things required for marriage😳. Mansi, the debate queen, is quite opposite Shivani. She supports arranged marriage. The two friends continuously keep fighting and debating with each other, but in the end of the day, they can't live without one another. They share a beautiful bond of friendship. Shivani has gifted Mansi a shaadi ka joda too!

One fine day, Shivani's elder sister (who had done an arranged marriage), returns home never to go back. There is a clash of opinions between Shivani and Mansi regarding the return of Shivani's sister, following which the two friends have a massive fight. Shivani was never fond of her jiju, and after this incident, she decides to protect her sister. The entire family leaves Udaipur that night itself, without informing anyone of their whereabouts. Shivani is sure that Mansi would come to look for her, and writes her a note. As fate has it, inspite of coming in search of Shivani, the note doesn't reach Mansi.

3 years later...
Mansi and Shivani have not been in touch since 3 years. Both miss each other, but are not aware of the other's whereabouts.
Anoop, an introvert, dis-interested in things kind of person, is all set to get married. He is a mamma's boy, though his mother feels that he simply gives in to her demands, he hides his innermost feelings deep inside him, not sharing them with anyone. He doesnt watch movies, etc. He is getting married to Mansi, an arranged marriage. From the mere two meets that they have had until now, we come to know that the two of them are completely different, a fact which is forcing Mansi to get scared of the relationship she is going to step into. However, she doesn't get time to re-think of her decision. Her marriage is in one week😲

Sahil, a lively boy.. completely different from Anoop. He is in a two-year-long relationship with Shivani, and is all set to take their relationship to the next level! On his demand, Shivani gets her entire family back to Udaipur. Shivani's parents and her sister are under the impression that Sahils mom has agreed to their relationship, however the case is otherwise. Both Sahil and his mom are adamant. While Sahil wants his mom to meet Shivani, his mother wants him to get married to Jyoti. Sahil fails to convince his mother to agree to atleast meet Shivani. Meanwhile, the misunderstanding between Shivani and Mansi goes on.
