You should definitely become a director, because your updates are like watching episodes of an amazing movie. It is very difficult to make the readers imagine actions scenes and to write such a brilliant and a suspenceful plot, you are truly brilliant. Can't wait to read the next part !!! :)

CHAPTER 10 -  Part - 2

"Kya sochta hain khud ke bare mein?" Rathore was furious. Riya was worried sick. It's been ten minutes since he jumped into the water. Lights were focused on the water. Suddenly they could see something red on the suface of the water. Blood!

The officers called out for Rathore to inform that somebody was hurt. Riya turned around immediately.

"Sir!" Riya shouted. It was Arjun! Riya ran to the end of the platform followed by Rathore. Arjun had just climbed onto the platform, his hand bleeding.

"Sir! Aap theek hain?" Riya said kneeling down beside him. Arjun was all wet, his hand bleeding very badly!

Rathore sent for the paramedics, who arrived immediately. Riya slowly removed the cloth around the wound. It was a stab! She cleaned the wound and started dressing it. She wasn't even looking at Arjun and concentrated on her work. Arjun only stared at her as several thoughts raced in his mind. Her frown spoke a million words. She was worried sick, he understood. Her eyes that were focused on his wound spoke volumes. She was fighting back her anger and hence didn't look at him nor did she say a word. She bandaged the wound and tightened the knot of the gauze.

He winced and she panicked, "Sir, are you ok?" she asked. Arjun nodded. She relaxed a little.

"Kya soch rahe the Rawte? Bhagvaan samajhte ho apne aap ko? Agar kuch ho jata tho? Khair chodo, mein kise samjha raha hoon.." Rathore yelled at him, while Riya just stared at Arjun with worry in her eyes. "Tumhe ye chot kaise laga?"

"Bahut planning karke aaye hain ye log. Oxygen masks ke saath pani ke andar tayaar the. Woh jaante the ki Trivedi ko andar khichte hi hum mein se koi paani me kudega. Jaise hi mein andar kooda tho maine dekha ki Trivedi ko oxygen mask pehnaya jaa raha hain. Lights aur night vision equipment hain unke paas. Main unke taraf jaane hi waala tha, kuch logon ne peeche se mujhpe vaar kiya. Jab tak main unse peecha chudata woh log Trivedi ko legaye. Teen laashe milenge andar," Arjun explained.

"Hamne iss shore ko chaaron taraph se gher liya hain. Woh log kahin nahin jaa sakte," Rathore said.

"Rishab ka kya hua?" Arjun asked.

"Uski phone milee hain sir. SIM aur memory card bhi nikaldiye gaye hain. Pata nahin woh kaha hain," Riya answered.

"Kahan mila hain phone?"

"Iss shore ke eastern side pe ek chota sa forest area hain sir wahan pe," she told Arjun.

Arjun, Rathore and Riya walked towards the SUV. Arjun's eyes fell upon the cave.

"Uski talaashi li?" he asked Rathore pointing at the cave.

"Haan, un officers ne liya tha. Zyada kuch nahin hain. Ek khaayi hain cave ke end mein bas. Wahan cave khatam ho jaati hain," Rathore said.

"Bahut badi galti ho gayi hain Rawte!" Rathore said slamming his fist on the car.

"Iss resort ke ex-manager ke baare mein kuch pata chala hain kya?" Arjun asked.

"Nahin abhi koi khabar nahin aayi hain," Rathore said when his phone started ringing. It was Shree, "Sir, Sailesh lapata hain aur uska phone bhi switched off aa raha hain."

"Shree, Trivedi ke phone ko trace pe rakho. Woh log use legaye. Ye baat Sameera ko pata nahin chalna chahiye! Jo kuch bhi ho, tum aur Chotu wahan se hilo mat. Stay with them," Rathore said and cut the phone.

"Sailesh lapata hain, right?" Arjun said as he stood with his hands folded, leaning against the SUV.

"Yeah," Rathore said and Riya became alert too.

"Woh issi island pe hain Rathore. Iss sab mein shaayad woh bhi shaamil hain," Arjun said.

"Ho sakta hain," Rathore said. Riya felt helpless. There were dead ends everywhere. It was like they were puppets in the hands of those criminals. The search parties also failed to discover anymore bases of the firearms.

At the banquet hall:

The party was lively. The manager stood near the entrance of the banquet hall, welcoming guests and answering any quieries. The police officers kept a watch on everybody coming in and going out. They were checked thoroughly. But they were unaware of the one person who stayed away from all this and was making the final move of the masterplan. From the back door, he ushered in a guy wearing a suit. The guy was scared, sweating. He looked pale.

"Tum jaante ho na kya hoga agar tumne koyi bhi gadbad ki tho. Tumhari patni zinda nahin bachegi aur na hi tum," the asst. manager warned him.

The man nodded. The asst. manager took him to the back entrance of the banquet hall, the entrance about which he hadn't informed to the police. The manager being new to the place didn't know about the secret entrances yet. He ordered him to go through the door and do as told. He gave him the final warning and the asst. manager escaped from there.

The man entered the hall quietly. He slowly moved to the centre of the hall, pulled out a gun and shot into the air. Silence followed. The commandos ran into the hall, took their positions and pointed their guns at the man.

"Nahin, ruko!" the manager yelled, "Woh hamare hi hotel ka mehmaan hain, Mr. Abhay Naik. Woh teen din pehle gaayab hua tha!"

By now the Commissioner had also arrived at the spot. Rathore called him and informed him as soon as the news about the underworld was confirmed.

"Don't shoot!" the Commissioner ordered, "Put the gun down!" he ordered the man.

#502

"Yaar, kuch ho raha hain kya neeche?" Shree asked Chotu. Sameera looked at them worried. Alex put his hands around her and comforted her.

Shree's phone started ringing, "Hello. Kya? Haan sir. Yes sir ham yahi hain. Yes, sir."

"Chotu, Rathore sir ka phone tha. Neeche banquet hall mein attack hua hain. Sare darwaaze, khidki sab bandh kardo. Mujhe immediately neeche jaana hoga. Riya aa rahi hain upar mujhe lene. Tum yahin raho aur inn dono ki security ka dhyan rakho," Shree said putting his laptop in his bag and  grabbed his walking stick. Riya came to him, her gun in her hand. She carefully took him down stairs.

The commandos were stationed in their positions inside the huge banquet hall, with the man standing in the middle with two guns in his hands. They couldn't shoot him as he was a civilian. He had been doing nothing except stand there. He didn't respond to any plea until then. Shree settled down near the entrance of the hall and immediately hacked the hotel's security database.

"Tumhe kya chahiye? Tumhe kisne bheja hain yahaan?" the commissioner asked again but in vain.

Arjun and Rathore both were frustrated now.

Anything and everything they tried to do failed.

A phone started ringing in the hall. It belonged to Abhay. He took the phone out of his pocket and pushed it on the floor towards the commissioner. The phone stopped midway. "Aap ke liye hain Commissioner saab, phone uthayiye," Abhay said. A commando went to get the phone and handed it over to the Commissioner.

"Hello."

"Hello Commissioner saab. Kaise hain aap?" the voice on the phone said.

He immediately turned the speaker on. It was an unknown phone and an unknown number so it was difficult for Shree to trace the call.

"Kaun ho tum? Kya chahiye tumhe?" the Commissioner asked.

"Pehle prashn ke jawaab ki koi zaroorat nahin hain. Ab doosre prashn pe pahunchte hain," he paused, "Sultan! Sultan chahiye mujhe!"

Rathore, Arjun, Riya and Shree beacame alert immediately. Sultan was a cold blooded criminal. He was one of the most important pillars of the underworld. It was the ETF team that put him behind the bars about four months back.

"Yeh Rafeeq hi ho sakta hain," Rathore said immediately. Arjun nodded in agreement.

The man on the phone continued, "Ab aap bevajeh sawaal poochke apna samay barbaad mat kijiye..Aapke paas waqt bahut kam hain. Aap tho jaante hi hain Mr. Trivedi ab hamere mehmaan hain. Ek aur baat bataye aapko? Ye aadmi jo aapke samne khada hain gun lekar..woh ek human bomb hain, jiska remote hamare paas hain. Agar aap usse, un mehmaanon ko aur khudko bachaana chahte hain tho hamari baat manlijiye. Pehle aap Sultan ko yahaan bulvayiye tab ham aapko hamare baaki demands batadenge!" The line went mute.

"Damn it!" Rathore swore, "Ab unhe Sultan chahiye!"

But Arjun was lost in thought with his eyes closed. He remembered how the three people had attacked him from behind. How they had dragged Trivedi away. He immediately opened his eyes. It hit him. The cave! He knew there was something in that cave! They had dragged him sideways in the direction of the cave not into the sea!

"Rathore, Riya mere saath chalo. Shree tum yahin raho aur inhe jo kuch bhi technical help chahiye woh karo," Arjun whispered to them.

The trio walked out the hotel slowly and carefully without grabbing much attention.

"Kya hua hain?" Rathore asked Arjun.

"Rathore hamein phirse uss cave ki talashi leni padegi. Hamein vahi koi clue milegi!" Arjun said.

"Lekin Rawte, wahan kuch nahin mila hain," Rathore said.

"Nahin Rathore, pani ke andar woh log Tivedi ko ussi taraf khichke legaye the," Arjun tried to explain.

"Lekin.." Rathore started to argue when Riya interrupted him, "Sir, ek baar dekhne mein tho koi problem nahin hain na sir. Vaise bhi ab vahin tho ek raasta baaki hain. Baaki saare tho bandh ho chuke hain," she said. Rathore looked at Riya and then at Arjun.

"Par yahaan bhi tho kisika rukna zaroori hain. Main manta hoon ki Commissioner sir hain. Lekin..zaroorat padne par main aur tum, dono mein se kisi ek ko tho yahaan hona chahiye na Rawte," Rathore was making sense too.

Arjun then thought for a moment, "Theek main jaoonga uss cave ke paas," he declared.

Riya's eyes widened, "Sir aap akele?"

"Nahin Rawte! Riya tum bhi jao uske saath," Rathore said, "Main yahaan rukta hoon."

"Yes sir," Riya said relieved that Arjun wasn't going alone.

Arjun turned to look at her. She was in the same white dress she wore when they met for the first time and so was he. He remembered the way she had tackled him. She had come a long way from there.

"Chale sir?" Riya asked.

Arjun nodded. They went to their SUV and quickly put on their ETF protection gear. They got in and before he started he checked the time. It was close to

11 o'clock. It is going to be a long night indeed, he thought.

The shore:

The entire place was sealed. The dead bodies of the attackers were recovered. There were a few officers guarding the place waiting for any possible movement.

They stood up as soon as they saw Arjun and Riya approaching them. Riya was carrying a rope with her and two powerful torches.

"Koi aur movement huyi hain?" Arjun asked one of them.

"Nahin sir. Kuch nahin," he answered.

"Theek hain. Hum uss cave ke andar jaa rahe hain. Agar kuch movement hoti hain, tho immediately inform us."

"Yes sir!"

Arjun and Riya enetered the cave. Riya held the torch in one hand and her gun in the other. Arjun had the rope with him. When they reached the pit that Riya initially fell into, they knelt down. Arjun moved his light all over the pit and its walls. He could see nothing. He wasn't convinced yet.

"Riya, tumhe niche utarna hoga," he said to her.

Riya nodded. She held onto the rope while Arjun slowly lowered her into the pit.

Riya pulled out the torch and started examining the walls with her hand.

"Riya, mehsoos karo un walls ko. Ye check karo ki kahin bhi koi darwaza hone ke chances hain ya nahin, dhyaan se," he instructed her. He knew he could trust her with this. She was sharp and he couldn't deny it.

The pit wasn't that big. So it didn't take much time for Riya to check the walls.

"Nahin hain sir," Riya informed Arjun.

"Riya, ab floor ko check karo."

She knelt down and began examining the floor. It was quite hard. There wasn't much soil, she could feel the stone. She suddenly felt something different.

"Sir, kuch hain!" she said.

Arjun became alert. She cleared the mud over it. She focused the light over it and she could finally see what it was. It was a wooden trap door!

"Sir, ye ek trap door hain!" she said.

Arjun smirked. He had been right all along. There was something more to this cave that what appeared.

"Riya usse kholne ki koshish karo," he said.

She put in all the force she could, but the door didn't budge.

"Nahin khul raha hain sir," she replied.

"Theek hain Riya, tum upar aajao. Main try karta hoon," he said and pulled Riya up.

She now held the rope with all her strength.

"Hum bahar se kisiko bula lete. Mujhe nahin lagta main aapko vaapas upar khich paaongi," Riya said as she lowered him into the pit.

"Mujhe bhi nahin lagta hain, Riya. Lekin chinta mat karo. Shaayad khichne ki zaroorat na pade," he said as he approached the trap door. Riya frowned. "Hamesha koi na koi comment! Socha tha aaj ye history mein pehle din hoga jab unhone mujhe kisi baat ke liye ek baar bhi criticize nahin kiya. Lagta hain aisa din kabhi aayega bhi nahin!" she thought.

Arjun tried to open the door. It didn't budge. The door remained closed not because of Riya's lack of strength but because of being loked from the other side. He went back to the rope. He lifted his head up.

"Riya! Upar khicho mujhe," Arjun said.

"Sir, lekin aapne kahaan mujhe kichne ki zaroorat nahin padegi," she retorted with her hands folded.

Arjun raised his eyebrow, "Lagta hain tumne theek se suna nahin Riya. Maine kahaan 'shaayad' khichna nahin padega! Kam se kam rope ko tho theek se aur tight pakdo," he said holding the rope. Riya frowned again and held the rope tightly. He climbed his way up the rope and landed himself safely on the ground.

"Ek aur dead end!" he said and then immediately realized something else,

"Hamein samundar ke dwara jaana hoga. I'm sure waise bhi koi rasta hain aur Trivedi iss waqt isi cave mein chupaya gaya hain."

Riya stared at him in disbelief. "Sir, lekin hamein iss waqt diving gear kahan se milegi? Hamare paas jyada waqt bhi nahin hain! Diver's point tho resort ke opposite end mein hain."

Arjun just walked out of the cave with Riya following him.

He went to the officers and asked them where they had put the diving gear the attackers had used.

"Ye! No way! Laashon pe se nikalegaye hain sir ye oxygen masks! Main inhe touch bhi nahin karungi, use karna tho door ki baat hain!" she said shocked.

But they didn't have another choice. There was still plenty of oxygen left in those tanks.

"Hamare paas aur koi raasta bhi nahin hain Riya. Aur jaise tumne kahaan, hamare paas waqt bhi kam hain," he said to her in return.

She contemplated for a moment, "Theek hain. Lekin pehle mujhe un masks ko clean karne dijiye," she said and removed her handkerchief to clean the already cleaned oxygen masks.

"Unbelievable," ACP Arjun Suryakanth Rawte thought as he watched her clean the masks again, which were just cleaned for their use with disinfectants!

Arjun called Rathore, "Rathore wahaan situation kya hain?"

"Sultan ko bulvaya jaa raha hain," Rathore said with a helpless voice, "Hum usse aise jaane nahin de sakte hain Rawte!"

"Hume ek trapdoor mila hain Rathore uss cave mein," he said, "Lekin shaayad woh andar se bandh hain. Mujhe yakeen hain ki pani ke andar uska ek raasta hain. Main aur Riya andar jaa rahe hain. Yahaan back up bhejdo. Shree ke un sensors ko hum apne saath le jaarahe hain. Shree se kehdo ki hamein track karte rahe. Andar jaane ke baad tumhe contact nahin kar paayenge."

Rathore remained silent for a moment. He had no other choice but to trust Arjun.

"Theek hain koshish karta hoon. Yahaan situation bahut kharaab hain," Rathore paused and then said, "Rawte, careful."

Arjun remained silent. Rathore cut the phone first.  Arjun and Riya walked back to the SUV. Arjun removed a kit from the backseat of the car. He gave one bug to Riya and fixed the other to his shirt inside his pocket. He then removed a pair of silencers and gave them to Riya. "Tumhare paas rakho. Zaroorat padegi inki," he said.

"Yes, sir," Riya said as she put them in her pockets. She remembered the first time she used the gun. It was to save his life. That day he said something her, "Tumne ek jaan li nahi Riya, tumne ek jaan bachayi hain. Dono mein bahut farak hota hain."

She trusted him that day from then on the trust didn't waver, not even once. However, she still had that slight hesitation when she aims a gun at a person. She sighed, "That's me, I guess!"

They reached the end of the platform; Arjun looked at Riya once, indicating her to be ready. He put on the mask and jumped into the water. Riya followed him.

They swam in the direction of the cave, as the light on the swimming gear guided them. Not having a proper diving gear and having fresh wounds, made it very difficult for both Arjun and Riya. It had been a long day for them and Arjun was losing strength too. Fortunately, the depth at which they had to swim was not too large.

He turned around to make sure Riya was alright. She was slowing down, losing strength just like him. Moreover her ankle was hurt that morning. He had initially thought that taking Riya with him would be a bad idea. But, he didn't want to leave her alone either. He swam back to her. She signaled to him that she was fine. They continued swimming until they located a bright light at some distance. Arjun and Riya looked around to find a wall like structure in front of them that surrounded some kind of a tunnel. They turned towards each other and nodded.

Arjun swam through the tunnel first, followed by Riya. They could now see the light getting brighter and realized that they were now getting closer to the suface of the water. Arjun motioned Riya to a side and they remained closer to the wall. They slowly surfaced and hid behind the wall, making sure they couldn't be seen. Arjun was right all along! The base was under the cave! The sea opened into this base. They could see the entrance of the base guarded by two men, with rifles in their hands.

Arjun and Riya removed their masks Arjun took his gun out and signaled Riya to hand him over the silencer. He fixed it to the gun and aimed at the guards. Riya pulled her gun out too and attached the silencer to it. She moved to a side and aimed along with him. He turned to look at her. She nodded, telling him that she would shoot. It would be better that way, if both the guards are shot at a time then they wouldn't be able to set the alarm off! Riya and Arjun shot them at once, coordinating perfectly. The gun shot couldn't be heard because of the silencer. The guards collapsed.

Arjun and Riya came out of the water and put away the oxygen tanks. Riya immediately started searching the pockets of the guards for keys or any other important things. Arjun knelt down beside her and started speaking, almost whispered in her ear, "Tumhe kya lagta hain Riya, woh log nahin jaante hain ki hum yahaan hain?" Riya looked at him shocked. "Woh ab tak hamare weakness ko use kar rahe the, hamare saath khel rahe the. Woh abhi bhi yahin kar rahe hain. Dekhna chahte hain ki hum kitni der tik paayenge. Lekin ab hum unke over confidence ko use karenge," he concluded.

He got up pulling out a bunch of keys from the guard's pocket. Arjun and Riya took their positions on either side of the door. Arjun slowly opened the door and peeped in. He had expected a room full of guards and other stuff, but none. Instead he found a cavern that was leading to another door. Arjun and Riya entered carefully and reached the other door.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In the enemy control room:

"Sir! Woh ACP Rawte andar phunchgaya hain! Uske saath ETF ki woh ladki bhi hain!"

"Kya? Tho jo kuch bhi suna hain uske baare mein, woh sach hain. Dekthe hain kahaan tak aayega. Yahaan aake bhi kya karega? Woh sabhi hamare muthi mein hain! Koi kuch bhi nahin kar paayega!"

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

his time Arjun and Riya were indeed greeted by guards and gun shots!

Riya and Arjun split up in two different directions hid themselves behind huge cartons. The bullets were fired continuously upon them. Arjun had tackled and killed a few of them already. Riya hid herself and tried to approach the other door.

She was being attacked now. She inhaled deeply, then exhaled. She pulled out her gun and shot the guards. Riya fired along with Arjun, killing as many guards as possible. Arjun was now a little relieved. He was glad that Riya hadn't taken much time to shoot. Riya had grown as an ETF officer over the past nine months. Arjun found a sense of pride everytime Riya proved herself in front of him, whenever his plan succeeded.

Arjun now came to Riya and they both hid behind huge drums. The room was silent now. "Looks like we've finished all of them," Riya thought.

"Riya, catridges hain?" Arjun asked. Riya shook her head. She had replaced her catridge just then.

"Meri goliyan khatam ho gayi hain," he said and then winced.

Riya immediately realized that Arjun was shot! He was shot in the side near the ribs. His wound on the arm was bleeding too.

"Sir, aapko tho goli lagi hain!" Riya exclaimed. She immediately turned around to see if anyone else remained. She couldn't see anybody. He settled on the ground unable sustain the pain.

"Sir, aap yahin baithiye mein kuch karthi hoon," Riya said and was about to get up. Arjun caught hold of her hand.

"Nahin Riya. It's not safe!"

"Sir, yahaan kayi guns pade huye hain. Ek laake tho de sakti hoon na aapko. Mujhe jaane dijiye," she pleaded.

Arjun shook his head. He couldn't let her go! He couldn't take the risk! He wouldn't be able to bear it, if anything happened to her. He wouldn't be able to live with the guilt of not being able to protect her! He tried to get up, but Riya stopped him.

"Aap bas baithiye! Rest for a moment. Mujhe kuch nahin hoga sir. Please trust me! I promise kuch nahin hoga mujhe!" she said looking into his eyes. He saw the courage in her eyes, the confidence that nothing will happen to her. He wanted to trust her. He remembered how he had promised her that he would save her life, the day she was shot for the first time. She was making him a promise now, a promise that nothing would happen to her. But, why did it feel like a promise for life? That he could trust her; that nothing will happen to her ever; that she would never leave him alone in this world again.

The pain was numbing his senses and his grip on her hand loosened. She immediately got up, held her gun tightly in her hand. She came out from behind the cartons and and started walking with her back towards the other door. She heard footsteps and turned around to find herself cornered, with a gun pointed at her forehead.

Arjun sat there cursing himself, for his situation, for his helplessness. He had to sit down for a while otherwise he wouldn't be able to get up again. He once failed to protect Roshni and now Riya! But, Riya had promised him that nothing will happen to her! "Usse apna vaada nibhana hoga!" he thought and rested his head on the drums leaning backwards. That's when he was brought back to his senses by a gun shot!

The gun shot took his breath away.

"Riya!" he called out for her. That was when he heard a second gun shot, followed by a voice, "Main theek hoon sir!"

 (Let's rewind a bit now..)

Riya turned around to find herself cornered, with a gun pointed at her forehead.

The guard smirked. Riya stood there shocked, yet confident. She gripped the gun in her left hand. The guard signaled her to put her gun down. She did as told. He then loaded the gun and was about to pull the trigger! But, Riya wasn't in front of him anymore. She was quick enough to bend down and kick his legs. He lost his balance and shot into the air. That was the first gun shot that Arjun had heard. Riya grabbed her gun on the ground and shot the man staright through the head. That was the second gun shot. She had removed the silencer long back.

She immediately grabbed the man's gun and rushed to Arjun. She handed him the gun and said, "Sir, maine kahaan tha na, mujhe kuch nahin hoga. I'm fine."

All he could do was stare at her unable to express how glad he was to see her alive like that! She saved him; saved him from hell and misery all over again!

The door opened, and they could hear footsteps. Not just one pair, but many.

"Welcome ACP Arjun Suryakanth Rawte! Finally the 'infamous cop' se milne ka mauka aa hi gaya," they heard the same voice on the phone speak in front of them now.

PRECAP: Who was the man? How will Arjun be able to save Trivedi, despite the threat of the human bomb? Will he be able to save the people, Riya and himself?

Kaise thod paayega Arjun, iss gunah ke chakravyuh ko?
