Aur ek Chudail ki Nazar uthare nahi utharti'.
These were the lines that caught everybody interest when the promos went on air. On 26th November 2012 Vikas Seth's Trishula Productions Anamika premiered on Sony Entertainment Television. Anaamika, revolves around two childhood friends ' Jeet (Mudit Nayar) and Rano (Anniie Gill) ' who are on the threshold of marriage. But before their dreams get fulfilled, Anaamika, a witch, charms Jeet. Suddenly, Jeet and Rano find the foundation of their relationship shaken. From the channel that that given us the super successful Aahat comes a daily soap that would follow paranormal lines.
The episode starts with the Introduction of Jeet who is stuck in the middle of nowhere due to his car breaking down. Jeet who is tryingdesperately to get out of there, suddenly feels something strange, he even hears the cries of a woman'He notices that the Lamp-post light was flickering the cries getting more louder and decides to find out what it was, in an attempt to figure out what was happening Jeet walks deeper into the forest. While one may have thought that the creep scenes and sequences, the noises, the haunting feel in short everything that makes this show supernatural will be unveiled slowly with time the makers decide to do just the opposite by establishing these very factors in their opening sequence. It was used not shoved up against the viewers, instead it was short and significant used in right proportions to keep the curiously factor intact.
Cut to Chandigarh Railways Station where we meet Rano our female protagonist who here to see off her mom and sister who are on their way to visit the Vaishno Devi Temple'..She comes across as a very loving, caring, mature, sensible, responsible and total punjabi kudi''Yes they have managed to establish these things right in the first episode with the interactions with her mom and sister, and also in a phone conversation with Jeet's father. Rano is very close to Jeet and we know this not just from the promos but right in her very first scene she mentions why she couldn't go to Vaishno Devi's Temple. Rano tells about Jeet's match and that he wanted Rano to be there for him while Rano wanted to be there for him too'.
Enter mechanic uncle out of nowhere, for those of you who don't remember this is the same guy who gets the Jadoo ki Jhappi from Munna Bhai in the Bollywood Blockbuster "Munna Bhai M.B.B.S" thereby kick starting the JKJ Hug series. He helps Jeet with the car problem which gets Jeet all excited and happy'..And here we learn a little something about Jeet too, he comes across as a sweet, caring, genuine and good-hearted human being. The next phase of the show was taken up in establishing the other characters of the show, basically Jeet's Family'.we have an Ultra Cool Bebe who is a "Friend Book" fan, who is more interested in updating her status message then be uptight unlike most of the Bebe's on TV. Jeet's Dad Pratap who is a disciplinarian, sensible and responsible man who wants to see his son achieve something in life then we have Jeet's brother-Balraj who is quite a sport who loves his family very much, Jeet's mother and his sister-in-law and also in establishing the camaraderie between Jeet and Rano. The last scene was the stellar it was beautifully scripted and executed'..Jeet hopes that he gets his bracelet in the Car, but realizes that he lost it somewhere else. After scolding the watchman for leaving the gate open, which the watchman denies doing and is surprised ki it happened, when Jeet is walking back indoor we see his bracelet hanging at the rear mirror'.A quick flashback that he had lost it at the forest followed by the present scenario where the bracelet is in the car with the partially covered face one eye glancing towards the screen image we are quite acquainted with as of the Aatma-Anamika.
The show is quite interesting, since its not a out and out supernatural drama like Aahat or Zee Horror show but one with an equal amount of love story, family drama etc Anamika sure is something the viewers can look out for.
For a first day they came up with some interesting sequences and it did leave a mark too'.The screenplay was quite engaging, the story is moving at a nice pace, with all important points being looked and established well especially the characters .
For a show that has a supernatural touch to it, the BGscore plays a very important role and Anamika scores really well in that department. The actors looks natural and quite at ease and the unrealistic factor that is usually seen in the first episode of any show was kinda missing here, which sure is a SCORE!
Final Verdict: Tune into Anamika as this sure looks like something out of the box and that can be very intriguing and entertaining'..
