NOTE FEW SPOILERS AHEAD

I loved it. Words can't say much. Am just too excited. going back tomorrow

Only 3 cinemas in NZ got thursday show and I was lucky we got the ticket. FIRST TIME SEETI and CHEERING

SALMAN KHAN does IT AGAIN!!! Wins your heart with superb Chulbuli perfomance. He snatches your attention every second he is on screen (just Bebo's adaa, Munni's thumkas and Sonakshi's beauty) You can write book on his persona. He is ruthless yet lovable. Mischief but charming. He defines DABANGG

Prakash Raj was great. Funny but yet cruel villain. Was all big talks as usual. As we no he no heroic villain who fights back and rips shirt to show his 6 pac. Despite all, Bacha bhaiya surpasses Chedi Singh's charisma and style. Dhaarmik Villain that was!

Sonakshi was great as house wife. Great in emotional scenes. And romantic scenes. Chemistry was unbelievably awesome. More screen time than Dabangg & Rowdy Rathore. Rajjo acting as pregnant woman, she looked bit heavy.Yet pretty.

Vinod Khanna was superb - Various funny scenes involving pranks calls. Great father-son chemistry between Salman. After Wanted and Dabangg, this goes further and shares great on screen time together. 'Prajapati Pandey mere sapno ke raja'

Arbaaz, as we know he plays Makhi, a dumb one. He is hilarious. Especially with riddle thrown on him by Chulbul to solve out in start of film but later gets solved by interval. Lack of screen presence but that's obvious. LOL at dance in fevicol

Mahie Gill played limited role. Special appearance but she glowed as Nirmila. Tinu Anand has very short appearance.

Brothers of Bacha Bhaiya. Chunni played Deepak and Genda played by that guy in Tanu Weds Manu. Both were awesome LOUDMOUTH support of BB. Infact Chunni, in final battle with Chulbul is awesome.

Manoj Pahwa is great as Salman's boss!!! Funny as usual. But is over-powered by Bacha Bhaiya so he is shown as chamcha. He just eats pizza whole time.

Music: Loved all 5 tracks. I loved Fevicol and Bebo glowed. From that teaser we see her expressions mainly, but she matches upto Chulbul style throughout the whole song. And there were actually seeti's and taali's. So much that the duty manager came and asked them to suss out. PandeyJee Seeit was ROCKING bigtime. Mailaka Arora was Thrilling once again!!! and trust me she isn't there for 20 seconds or so but nearly whole song. Saanson was shot beautifully in Dubai. The chemistry was lovely. Expressions were mindblowing. Dagabaaz my fav situational song. Chulbul wins Rajo after upsetting by not being there ...etc 😆 Chemistry was cute.  Udh Udh Dabangg (Reloaded) - Intro is too much!!! Lovely!!!! Mamta Sharma(singer of Fevcol & Munni) has special appearance where she gets her star moment with Chulbul

Tiny Witsy Spoiler Ahead!
Plot was at similar level to first one but this was presented with more positiveness. Chulbul was actually shown much happier with his family. Till one incident that takes place which can get you bit emotional.

Direction was impressive. I though he did a great job. Just few bits I thought he could added a bit more but it was still great as it was presented. But overall. It was excellent. Action: was 10 times ahead of Dabangg. Cinematography was excellent. Chereography and Song direction were at high standards. Just extra 👍🏼 for Pandey Jee seeti.  Oh that big fat guy who is shown as Gunda in every Salman film was in here aswell dancing to a recent track of Salman. As for story, I didn't go in cinema expecting oscar winning film so instead I went with expectation of Masala. This year we had Rowdy Rathore, Khiladi 786 and Son Of Sardaar types of MASALA. but trust, even Non-Salman fan would cearly say DABANGG 2 IS THE BEST MASALA of 2012.

Watch it for AWESOME DIALOGUES, THRILLING ACTION SEQUENCES, LOVABLE MUSIC AND STRUCTURAL HERO-VILLAIN PLOT AND CHULBUL PANDEY AT HIS BEST...

Beyond rating 👏

Bollywood review: Fearless Salman Khan soars anew in Dabangg 2

While he's no Rajnikanth, Salman comes close with gravity defying stunts that stack up the body count and drain out the blood banks

Published Thursday, December 20, 2012

A child is kidnapped. The goons are menacing.

Suddenly the ground starts to shake; is it an earthquake? A herd of wild elephants maybe?

"Oh no, it's Chulbul Pandey," says head goon, right before the man in question slams through a brick wall, then lunges out of an airborne car onto a suspended one, which then crashes to the ground in a haze of splintered glass.

Indeed, seeing is believing.

This is Salman Khan in the flesh, as raw as he can get and just as corny.

The action man reprises the iconic role of Chulbul Pandey that turned him overnight into a force to reckon with and kickstarted his second innings at box office gold.

The new and improved version is still that lovable Robinhood man in uniform, with several moments of heightened Kung-Fu Pandey-ness thrown in to pepper up the proceedings.

The sequel to 'Dabangg' picks up a few years after the first one left off in Lalganj, with Chulbul now living in the city of Kanpur, playing life out like an Ekta Kapoor serial, complete with wife Rajjo (Sonakshi Sinha), father Prajapati (thespian actor Vinod Khanna) and brother Makhi (director Arbaaz Khan).

Chulbul retains his supercop status, which he transferred with his reign of terror to Kanpur, along with his ability to break out into item songs at a whim or spout cheesy oneliners when threatened.

Bad guys drop like flies in his shadow, while female journalists swoon starstruck when he stops for a soundbite. But amidst this daunting persona, Chulbul is still your proverbial paradox who fears the wrath of his Rajjo.

However, his hot headed ways haven't sat well with head don and local politician, Bacha Singh (Prakash Raj), who makes it his life's mission to destroy Chulbul after an eve teasing incident sees his brother die at the hands of the supercop.

Fisticuffs ensue, blood spills, while brains and brawn are put to the test in gravity defying fight sequences that could even put Bruce Lee to shame.

While we have seen Salman do a lot of this in his last few films, the monotony has yet to set in, at least with the 'Dabangg' series, courtesy the dimensions of his character that have been allowed to breathe freely in the sequel.

Credit here goes to director Arbaaz and the writers, who take a shallow film like 'Dabangg 2' and transform it into a wholesome watch, with pockets of emotional quotient and depth to its characters and relationships.

Chulbul's once tumultuous bond with his stepfather is now one of love and respect, with the duo sharing some pleasantly surprising father-son chemistry that turns the action man into a vulnerable child who's been emotionally starved for a family.

Meanwhile, the camaraderie between Rajjo and him is just as charming as it was in the first innings, with Sonakshi proving an absolute delight on screen who somehow manages to marry conservative coyness with passive aggressiveness that only a wife can master.

How you wish there was more passion to explore in the film's two-hour runtime, but Sonakshi is saddled with a song and dance routine through most of 'Dabangg 2', which leaves pretty less screen time for her to mouth many dialogues.

The other disappointment is the film's hesitancy at exploiting the real-life chemistry between brothers Salman and Arbaaz. While we at least saw more of the latter in part one, the sequel has swatted Makhi out of the equation, which was probably the case considering Arbaaz has donned the director's hat here.

Indeed, with his debut behind the camera, Arbaaz took a safe bet to bank on his much popular brother to tide over any technical difficulties he may face with filming. For the rest, he roped in Kareena Kapoor to sex up a sizzling item song with 'Fevicol Se'.

But credit where it is due, 'Dabangg 2' could've just as easily turned into a hotch potch of Bollywood action and kitsch, much like the recently released 'Khiladi 786', but Arbaaz somehow manages to restrain himself and Chulbul, which is by no means an easy task.

Having said that, one can only see the cash registers ringing for 'Dabangg 2' in the coming weeks. If it beats the record of its first outing, we wouldn't be surprised. This Kung Fu Pandey at his best

Dabangg 2
By  Taran Adarsh, 20 Dec 2012, 23:17 hrs IST
The job of a promo is to send out accurate pointers to its target audience. The gist of the premise, the essence of what the characters will be, an extract of the milieu... one needs to furnish a general idea of what to expect when the spectator saunters into the cineplex to watch the film. Arbaaz Khan and Abhinav Singh Kashyap had a tough responsibility on their shoulders when they embarked upon DABANGG. As luck would have it, DABANGG was hailed as one of the best entertainers of that year, with Chulbul Pandey becoming a household name. The film consolidated Salman as the darling of the masses, a position he enjoys to this date.

With DABANGG 2, one is well prepared about what to expect. The sole factor that Arbaaz needs to worry about is whether DABANGG 2 would meet the towering and monumental expectations. More so, because Salman Khan is contending with himself. He seems to be raising the bar [in terms of business] with each film. WANTED, DABANGG, READY, BODYGUARD, EK THA TIGER... Salman has redefined superstardom with mass entertainers. He's Boxoffice's fav child and seems invincible and insurmountable at the moment!

With DABANGG 2, you know exactly what to expect. But you don't know its premise till the reels unfold. Let me add, the plot is an extension of the first installment of the franchise. The route is very similar except that the antagonist is more influential and authoritative.

DABANGG 2 is a typical Bollywood film. It's the kind of cinema we relished in the 1980s and enjoy to this date, but narrated in today's lingo and format. It may/may not make sense to you, but Arbaaz and team ensure that you are entertained. Thoroughly entertained, actually. It's riotous, outrageous, wacky, ambitious, absolutely madcap, transports you to an altogether different world. Add to it a sprinkling of desi songs, wicked sense of humor, with Chulbul Pandey taking on the antagonist like the vintage hero would -- with fearlessness and daredevilry. Actually, Chulbul Pandey has come to represent the common man and that's yet another reason why you root for him, feel overjoyed and ecstatic when he triumphs in the finale.

For those who adore masala movies, celebrate mainstream cinema, relish the cinema of yore and of course, hero-worship Salman Khan, DABANGG 2 is your ticket this festive season.

DABANGG 2 begins with Chulbul Pandey moving to Kanpur. Once there, Chulbul gets into conflict with Baccha Bhaiyya [Prakash Raj]. Baccha Bhaiyya, a criminal turned politician, is aided by his two brothers, Chunni [Nikitin Dheer] and Gainda [Deepak Dobriyal]. Things take a turn for worse when Chulbul kills Gainda. the battle lines are drawn...

Like I pointed out at the outset, DABANGG 2 is a hardcore masala entertainer that's desi at heart. The plot is *not* out of the box [it's the usual good versus evil saga], but it's completely irrelevant here. What camouflages this deficiency are several interesting episodes that Arbaaz and writer Dilip Shukla have integrated in those 2 + hours. These episodes, aimed at pleasing the hoi polloi and of course, Salman's die-hard fans and also fans of mainstream cinema, are, to put in filmi lingo, absolutely paisa vasool. In fact, Salman's star power is so so so strong that you're ready to overlook and forgive-and-forget any blemish that you may encounter in the movie.

Yes, there are blemishes. The Arbaaz-Mahie Gill track is half-baked. The confrontation scenes between Salman and Prakash Raj lack fiery dialogue. The songs, though popular, are integrated in the narrative without any valid situations. But these are cinematic licenses you overlook in a Salman movie.

Arbaaz Khan, who makes his directorial debut with this film, knows his fundas right. He may have borrowed from the cinema of 1970s and 1980s, but he garnishes it well enough to suit the present-day sensibilities. Sajid-Wajid take the same route they undertook while making the soundtrack of DABANGG. Much like the content of the film, the songs are desi, with a mix of old-world charm ['Dagabaaz Re' and 'Saanson Ne'] and foot-tapping numbers ['Pandeji Seeti' and 'Fevicol']. In fact, 'Fevicol' is already a rage and Kareena's presence in the song only acts as sone pe suhaaga. The action/stunts do complete justice to Salman's persona. The action plays a crucial role in a masala entertainer and adds so much power to those scenes. Dialogue are of mixed variety.

Salman uses his fists, escapes the bullets, spews venom and threats, bullies the villain, flirts and romances his wife, does the pelvic thrusts... in fact, he does everything that one expects from Chulbul Pandey. Oh yes, he even takes off his shirt, flexing his muscles and showing his well sculptured torso without inhibitions, a mandatory requirement in a Salman Khan movie. Honestly speaking, DABANGG 2 is a Salman Khan vehicle and the actor is the Big Boss here. You cannot imagine anyone else doing what he does. And every time he plays to the gallery, many in the audience [especially at single screens] are sure to fling the loose change on screen as a mark of appreciation for his on-screen antics. He defies logic and gets away with it!

Sonakshi has the infectious charm and radiates confidence all through the enterprise. Arbaaz is just about okay. Mahie Gill has nothing to do. Vinod Khanna is passable.

Prakash Raj is in terrific form yet again. The supremely talented actor is ferocious when the need arises. Nikitin Dheer has good screen presence and does well. Deepak Dobriyal gets better scenes and is hugely competent.

On the whole, DABANGG 2 has Salman Khan, Salman Khan and Salman Khan + Entertainment, Entertainment and Entertainment in large doses. The film has the masala to work big time with the masses. This one will rewrite the rules of the game and the festive occasion [Christmas and New Year] will aid its potential. Sure shot Blockbuster!

Movie review: "Dabangg 2"

[ Updated 20 Dec 2012, 23:45:34 ]
Movie review: "Dabangg 2"
FONT SIZE
New Delhi, Dec 20: Stars- 2.5
Director :     Arbaaz Khan
Music :     Sajid-Wajid
Lyrics :     Sameer, Jalees Sherwani, Sajid-Wajid, Asraf Ali and Irfan Kamal
Starring :     Salman Khan, Sonakshi Sinha, Arbaaz Khan, Mahie Gill, Vinod Khanna and Prakash Raj

In the mid of the year we witnessed Salman Khan in Ek Tha Tiger one of the descent raw action flicks delivered in the past. The other flick presented was Akshay Kumar's 'Rowdy Rathore' which every spectator admired keeping aside his last week's release 'Khiladi 786' being silly in its action.  The Diwali release 'SOS' had some non-digestible actions but we tend to enjoy all these by just keeping our brains aside and not looking at it otherwise.

With the year coming to an end the badass Robin Hood is once again back to flush off the baddies in town in his own versatile style and when we watched we got what we expected.  The flying high action, punching with a wind sequences, holding up the culprit and throwing him down the earth.  Definitely enjoyable.

Dabangg 2 is the sequel but is similar in many aspects. Right from action adoption till the music composition. The flick begins from where it left. Chulbul Pandey played by Salman Khan married to Rajjo, depicted by Sonakshi Sinha, in first installment is now transferred from Laalganj to Bajariya thana in Kanpur. He is now an Inspector-in –charge here carrying forward same values he had before. Without wasting any time Pandeji comes hard over criminals in the city. And talking of the same values Pandeji robs the rich and helps the poor in the sequel too.

His wise and dutiful attitude raises Baccha Bhaiya's eyebrows. Yes, the criminal turned politician Bacccha Bhaiya, very well played by Prakash Raj, is the bad guy who eyes on the forthcoming election but has n numbers of black money making businesses.

Now will the fearless Chulbul Pandey be able to stop this politician cum mafia that's how the story further deals with.

The story is not new as it's a mere characterization which makes some points. The Kanpur flavour of UP in the flick is not clearly depicted. The action sequence as already told doesn't need any brains and so the story needs.

Director, producer and actor Arbaaz Khan to be honest is not a bad replacement for Abhinav Kashyap. While we mark him for his act, he has done a convincing job as a director too.

Well Dabanng was known for Salman Khan and in no doubt the sequel will also be remembered for him. With tongue twisted conversation and extremely great comic timing, Salman again shines the screens. We all have seen earlier that his aggression speaks a lot and let us tell you we are serious when Pandeji comes in action. His style of romancing Rajjo is also enjoyable.

Sonakshi  Sinha as Mrs. Pandeji is somewhat convincing in this flick as compared to so many other flicks she worked in earlier this year.  She tries to stand toe-to- toe with Salman Khan but doesn't quiet match up, but still not disappointing.

The bad guy replacement for Sonu Sood, Prakash Raj, though we know he is not mascular like him, but like 'Wanted' and 'Singham' he thrills you with his negative act and dialogue delivery. He wants to win the forthcoming elections at any cost and who ever comes in his way needs to be destroyed. He has two younger brothers.

Firstly Chunni played Niketan Dheer. In real terms he is the one who tries to stand up to Sonu Sood's physique but again friends Sonu is still irreplaceable, while the other brother is Genda played by Deepak Dobriyal. Both are just descent in their acts.

The comparison is being made and it has to be made for the music. The music director duo Sajid-Wajid has brought forward the same flavours from Dabangg. From Muni Badnaam to 'fevicol' track, from Tere mast-mast do nain to 'Dagabaaz naina' from 'Humka peeni hai' to 'Pandej ji', you won't be able to stop comparing eachother. But these compliment the flick and looks great on big screens. Not to forget Kareena Kapoor in Fevicol and Malaika's special appearance in Pandeji track. It's a treat to watch them out.

Though you might not love this sequel more than you loved the former one but yet it's enjoyable.  Arbaaz carries it with much responsibility and makes it fit for a perfect 'X-Mas' holidays. I'll go with 2.5 stars for this completely Masala entertainment. Don't expect the same magic of Dabangg; just enter the theatres for bindass Chulbul Pandey.
