'Dabangg 2' is going strong at the box office, spells profit for all

'Dabangg 2', the last big release of 2012, seems to cap the year on a profitable note. The Salman Khan-starrer opened with a record-breaking collection of Rs 21.10 crore on the first day and trade pundits predict it will enter the Rs 100-crore club.

Rajesh Thadani of Multimedia Combines told IANS that 'Dabangg 2' has opened 'exceptionally well at the box office on Friday' and on Saturday 'collected around Rs.17 crore and is going housefull on Sunday'.

According to him, it is a record breaking opening and that 'Dabangg 2' has broken the record of 'Rowdy Rathore' that opened with Rs 15.10 crore.

The Salman Khan-starrer opened with a record-breaking collection of Rs 21.10 crore on the first day.

A sequel to Abhinav Kashyap-directed 2010 blockbuster 'Dabangg', the part two, said to be made at a budget of Rs 50 crore, marks Arbaaz Khan's directorial debut and repeated the lead pair of Salman and Sonakshi Sinha, while Prakash Raj replaced Sonu Sood as the villain.

Brijesh Tandon said, "In Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, 'Dabangg 2' has collected around Rs 3.40 crore on Friday which was quite expected from Salman's film. We hope the film gets bigger and better tonight."

Anand Verma of DT Cinema informed that at their centres it has got a 'phenomenal response' despite a slow start on Friday morning and most of the shows have been 'housefull'.

However, Vinay Choksey of VIP Movies feels that Monday will be crucial to the movie.

He said: "Today (Sunday) the film is going housefull and it should collect around Rs 20 to Rs 23 crore. We are only concerned about the Monday morning collections. We hope there won't be any dip on Monday."

In Mumbai, according to Manoj Desai, executive director of G7 multiplex and Maratha Mandir, "'Dabangg 2' was housefull at G7 and Maratha Mandir on Friday and Saturday. Even on Sunday the film is going housefull. Now let's see how the film does on Monday."

Will 'Dabangg 2' break the record of Salman's earlier release, 'Ek Tha Tiger', which earned Rs 33 crore on its opening day?

"I don't think 'Dabangg 2' will break the record of 'Ek Tha Tiger', but the film will certainly cross Rs.100 crore without any doubt. Besides, Tuesday is a (X-Mas) holiday, so the film will collect enough on Christmas."

Sunil Bansal of Yash Raj Jai Pictures Pvt Ltd said that in Rajasthan, 'Dabangg 2' amassed around 'Rs 1.25 crore on day one. On Saturday, the film collected around Rs 90 lakh".

Opening in Orissa has been average, according to Jeetu Khandelwal of Movie Pioneers, who informed that 'the film collected around Rs.30 lakh, but it is going housefull on Sunday'.

"Nobody will ever face any loss with a Salman Khan film. But 'Ready' and 'Bodyguard' opened with better collection compared to 'Dabangg 2'," he added.

Made at a budget of Rs 40 crore, 'Dabangg' had collected Rs 145 crore.

With collections from various centres pouring in, Dabangg 2 has performed well on Sunday. The film has picked up by around 25% from Saturday, while a few single-screen dominated centres have managed to put up even better numbers.

1st Friday: The presence of Salman Khan and the Dabangg brand value drew audiences in hordes for the morning shows. Since it was a working day, afternoon and evening shows had lower occupancy. In North India, evening and night shows were affected due to extreme cold. All India Collections – Rs 21 crore nett.

1st Saturday: After the euphoria and excitement on Day 1, Saturday morning shows opened slow and remained steady throughout the day. Hardly any growth at multiplexes, while single screens dropped by around 20% from Friday. The India vs England T20 cricket match too resulted in lower occupancy for evening/night shows. All India Collections – Rs 19 crore nett.

1st Sunday: As per early estimates, Sunday is likely to be around 25-26 crore net. Decent growth in business, although the trade expected bigger numbers from a film released on a huge numbers of screens. Salman Khan's last release, Ek Tha Tiger collected Rs 23 crore on it's 1st Sunday (released on Wednesday).

Dabangg2 First Weekend Collections: 65-66 crore nett (approx)

Will the film remain steady on Monday (first weekday) or crash? The Christmas holiday on 25th will benefit the film, but the keenly-awaited India vs Pakistan T20 cricket match is also scheduled to take place on the same day. What sort of impact will that have on the film?

Well Now a Days Estimate Collection gets a bit different with actual collection.This is just because of late night shows occupancy.In last two days The Collection of Dabangg 2 fell heavily on night shows because of cold wave in this winter and we gave the estimate collection on the basis of till evening shows.Clear …!? Okay thanks

The Film finally got its first holiday though the film has done fantastic business in last two working days.Collected more than 40 crores from working days was just amazing to write down.The 3rd Day business is the most important for the film though the 1st weekend record on the card.

The Film showed good occupancy at Morning than last two days in both Multiplex and Single Screens which was very good start for the day.The Film also has had great noon and evening shows in both belts.

Here comes The Night Shows and as per some reports indicating that it has got bit drop due to heavy cold weather and tomorrow will be working day but overall has had a great day.

As of Now The Collection on its 3rd Day expected around 21 crores  – 23 crores Nett as per early estimate.The Actual Collection will vary for sure as the night shows are unpredictable.But This is almost sure that the film has set The First Weekend Biggest Collection Beating Ek Tha Tiger ( 60.34 crores ).
