[V] makes a clean sweep...

MUMBAI: Channel [V] made a clean sweep yet again, walking away with a grand total of 16 awards at Promax BDA India Awards Show 2006. Four gold awards and 11 silvers had the Channel [V] team bringing down the house with whistles and cheers.

Speaking to Indiantelevision.com on their victory, Channel [V] head honcho Amar Deb said, "The quality of work has been brilliant, it's a culmination of the blood, sweat and tears put in, over the year and with 12 awards being taken home at Promax BDA in New York, it's been a great year for us!"

Channel [V] head of promotions Sheetal Sudhir added, "We laid a lot of emphasis on animation this year because it is a medium that you can create wonders with. It has however been very unpredictable, the entries we thought would win did not and the ones we did not expect to win surprised us, but then again you win some, you lose some!"

The show was livened up with witty comments from Channel [V]'s inimitable Lola Kutty who went up to receive all awards pocketed by the network. However, an inappropriate statement about the atrocity that hit the city last evening made by host Roshni Chopra, left a bad taste in everyone's mouth.

When queried about the entries received this year, jury member and Famous House of Animation marketing head Thomas Jacob said, "The entries this year were very bad and of really low quality. I went through about 250 entries and only came across three that were pretty good. These included one each from Channel [V], Sony and Star."

Other members of the jury included SET India's Avinash Agrawal, Zee Telefilms' Deepak Mankad, MTV Networks India's K M Ayappa, Walt Disney's Padmashree PS, Times Now's Prashanto Das, TV Today's Shushir Joshi and TV18's Zubin Driver amongst others. The chairman for the awards was Zee Cinema programming head Mohan Gopinath.
