Swoosh..!

The wind blew across the room like a silent whisper as if it was foretelling a catastrophe. It was a cold December night.

She woke up with a start, her heart beating wildly. She looked around to see what had awakened her. She could hear the wind knocking the window. She took a deep breath in to tame her pacing heart. She looked down at the broken pieces of the vase which were lying on the floor. The wind must have knocked down the vase, she thought.

She turned to his side. He wasn't there. She tried not to panic.

Where could he be?

This wasn't the first time she woke up in the middle of night and could not find him next to her. It was their usual story. But she panicked every time she didn't find him close to her. She quickly glanced at the wall clock; it was 3:15 a.m.

She gently pushed the sheets away and got down the bed. She closed the window and bent down to pick up the pieces. She carefully kept the smaller ones on the lager part of the vase and threw them in the trash can.

Why?

She lay down on her bed, staring at the ceiling. She was lost in deep thoughts, think about everything and nothing!

 She was thinking about him...

Thinking about THEM!

They will be celebrating their 2nd wedding anniversary this Saturday. The best two years of her life!

Should I call him? She thought.

Sounds like a plan, she exclaimed, giving herself a hi5.

She grabbed her cell phone from the side table and punched his number.

Cut Cut Cut!!

She threw the phone on the bed.

Pagal hain kya,bhool gayi pichli baar kya hua tha? She reminded herself.

But I have to find out where he is!

She picked up the phone again hesitantly.

She kept pacing frantically in her room, debating in her mind, evaluating the consequences.

She finally decided to call him. She took a deep breath and redialed his number.

She dialed it again.

The number you have dialed is currently...

And Again..

The number you...

 

 

Busy??

At 3:30 in the morning??

Who can it be now?

Calling him at such an odd hour??

And how can somebody possibly believe it?

He isn't the same Arjun I loved. He is somebody else.

A stranger.

Yes!

A stranger in my life.

Do you know what he is upto these days??

Her chain of thoughts were broken by the noise.

The footsteps become louder and louder.

Thump!

Thump!!

Thump!!!

 

She closed her eyes tight and covered herself with the sheets.
