Billu to get kidnapped in SAB TV's FIR

Cat eyed Billu (Sandeep Aanand) is about to land himself in trouble with Chandramukhi Chautala (Kavita Kaushik) getting to handle a new case on SAB TV's FIR (Edit II Productions).

In the upcoming episodes, Chautala and her team will get on a mission to save a businessman's son from being kidnapped. Thus, they will move as different characters around him.

While Chautala (Kavita Kaushik) and Gopi (Gopi Bhalla) will double up as professors in a college where this businessman's son studies, Billu will reprise the role of a student.

And as the story progresses, the kidnappers will end up abducting Billu instead of the businessman's son.

When we contacted Sandeep, he said, "Yes, we have shot for a kidnapping drama but whether his team manages to rescue him or not is something for the viewers to wait and watch."

The track will air sometime next week.

Aamir Ali never believed he could carry off a comic character well but his role as Bajrang Pandeyin TV show "F.I.R." changed his perception -- and "opened" him up as an actor.

Aamir, who played the entertaining inspector Bajrang Pandey in F.I.R., quit the show earlier this year. He admits that it changed his thinking on doing comic roles.

"I could never imagine doing a comedy show, but 'F.I.R.' changed my thought. 'F.I.R.' made me a better actor as it opened me up. I still have a long way to go, but 'F.I.R.' made a big difference," Aamir told IANS.

He was not confident about the role, but the crew made him feel comfortable.

"The director and unit were so good, they made me feel comfortable. They had faith in me. I didn't have faith in myself. They appreciated me," he said.

The 33-year-old has also been part of shows like "Woh Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki", "Kya Dill MeinHai", "Bhaskar Bharti" and "Hongey Judaa Na Hum". But "F.I.R." and "Woh Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki" are the ones closest to him.

"The way the shows turned out to be and the love which I got... It has been amazing for me," he said.

Having worked in numerous shows for almost a decade, Aamir and his actress wife Sanjeeda Sheikh are not bothered by the new crop of actors on the small screen.

"I think there are a lot of newcomers and I welcome everyone. It all depends on you. We have made our name and whoever comes, it does not make a difference. We are both very confident. There is room for everyone," he said.

The actor is currently seen in "Jhilmil Sitaaron Ka Aangan Hoga", and he is loving it. "The makers are amazing to work with. It is an experience working with them," he added.

TRPs gone, TVT is the new trend

TV show ratings have now started coming in thousands instead of percentages. Earlier, ratings for shows ranged from 0.4 to 4.5, now they range from 750 to 7,000 and more — basically indicating viewership in actual numbers. This decision was recently taken by broadcasters, advertisers and TAM, the agency that collates weekly ratings to resolve the ongoing crisis about telly ratings.

And another big change has been made too. The word TRP (Television Rating Point) has now been reworded as TVT (Television Viewership In Thousands). And GRP (Gross Rating Point) is now GVT (Gross Viewership In Thousands).

SAB TV beats Sony

Star Plus is the number one general entertainment channel in terms of GVT (Gross Viewership In Thousands), followed by Colors and Zee. Sony, which held the fourth position, has slipped to number five. SAB, which is part of the same group, has taken that place. See box (right) for GVT of general entertainment channels.

Shiv Pandit reminds me a lot of myself: Akshay Kumar

Shiv Pandit reminds me a lot of myself: Akshay Kumar

Shiv Pandit, who plays Akshay Kumar's younger brother in his forthcoming releaseBoss, has a three-film deal with the actor-producer.

Shiv says bagging Boss has been a turning point in his life. "There were no auditions or look tests.Akshay just believed in me. I had the privilege of working with director Anthony D'Souza, doing a song with Prabhudeva and dancing withSonakshi Sinha. It is a dream role," says the actor. Though he plays a lover boy, he has also performed high-octane action scenes and comedy in the film.

While casting, Akshay wanted a young, talented actor to play his brother. Several rounds of auditions were held, but none impressed him. And then, by sheer chance, he stumbled upon Shiv's debut film, Shaitaan, and liked his performance in it.

Says Akshay, "I signed him for three films because I feel he is a committed actor who has a lot of potential." There was also an emotional reason behind the decision. "Shiv reminds me a lot of myself when I started out. Even I had no backing or filmi connections. Today, I feel proud I'vegot an opportunity to encourage new talent," says Akshay.

Boss, produced by Viacom18 Motion Pictures, Cape Of Good Films and Ashwin Varde Productions, releases October 18.

Celebs Speak: Are we living in a 'unified and independent' India?

Today i.e. 15 August 2013, is the proud moment wherein India celebrates its 67 years of Independence. We do talk of 'Freedom of Speech', 'Freedom of Expression', but the sorry state of affairs puts a big question mark over the safe future of every Indian.

Are we really independent in the true sense of the word? Is celebrating Independence Day even significant to us?

Aah, we are sure these thoughts run into the minds of Indian citizens now and then. So why not ask people from the television industry about their thoughts.

Optimists would say that every country has drawbacks. Everybody cannot be the same and be good. There are dreadful people everywhere and every country has at least 1 percent of the population doing something bad and you cannot keep pin pointing at everybody for their deeds. But was this the India our founding fathers dreamt of?

Aamir Ali is one actor who believes that it is upon us to bring goodness for our nation by our deeds. He stated, "Every country has its own shortcomings and weaknesses. You cannot blame everybody. It is for us to think and behave positively. I am glad to be in an industry which does not differentiate based on caste, creed or religion and I tell everybody how blessed I am."

Back in school, during our civics class we were taught that India is a sovereign, socialist, secular, democratic republic. The Preamble also goes to bestow on all Indians justice, social, economic and political liberty of thought, expression, belief, faith and worship, equality of status and opportunity. So are 'we-the people' enjoying all these rights? Do we find relevance to the feeling of being a proud patriot," Aamir added.

As the popular SAB TV show completes its 1000th episode on 5 September (2013), the entire unit is looking forward to the D-day.

Commenting on the occasion, Producer of the show Sanjay Kohli said, It feels ecstatic. Its an unbelievable phase that we are going through and we feel marvelous that a comedy show is celebrating 1000 episodes.

So how does team FIR plan to celebrate the moment?

We are planning a very different and exciting storyline where Chandramukhi (Kavita Kaushik) would be solving her 1000th case and it would also be the 1000th theft of the robber.
