Mein aa gaiπŸ˜›
And well, As we have been waiting forever (And Ever) for this show, it is finally going to on tomorrow evening and naturally with the  excellent Star cast, the thrilling promos and ofcourse the magic of SLB!!

The one thing that stands out for me is that after a long time I have seen a show which is named after a MALE lead,
apart from those detective ones ofcourse.
What attracted me was ofcourse how they potrayed the characters, Modern yet deeply rooted to their roots, Style with Desism...πŸ˜†

Secondly I am really interested in knowing how SLB deals with a story written more than a 100 years ago, and gives it a modern touch, making it relevant in today's scenario. Because even in Devdas, he did not much tamper with the era, but in here he has tinkered with the time period, so this is going to be interesting.

And that brings me to the original story and its writer...

GovardhanRam Tripathi

The Guy was a legendary writer. And Ofcourse he was a Lawyer

The man was as simple as he could be ...A writer by choice, he gave up his career as a lawyer at the age of 43 to contribute to the Literary world.

Somewhere in my studies I had read a snippet that once his daughter had actually destroyed the manuscript of the novel to make a kite (She was very young to understand what she was doing). GovardhanRam calmly helped her fly the kite and then gently told her that next time she should ask him before doing anything to his papers and wrote the whole thing again...the novel became SARASWATICHANDRA. One of the finest, not only in Gujarati Literature, but also in over all literature...

His Saraswatichandra was published in 1887...More than a 100 years ago and he was only 32 years old...But still what depth of emotions and what lucidity that goes through all the four parts!!

He was such renowned writer and idealist that the period 1887 to 1915 is called the 'Govardhan-Era' of Gujarati Literature...

Thank you ji for giving us such master piece!! And Thank you SLB for putting it On Screen!!!

He was clearly interested in literature and had always vowed to contribute to the Literature...

However, the real start was in 1883 as he started to write  'Sarasvaticandra':: The First novel.  (1887),Then gradually the part. 2 (1892), part 3 (1898) and part .4 (1901) have been published during the fourteen years. The author is the creator of the pioneer class and As the novel was published we realize that it was not only  a work of  Nineteen years, which extended in approximately 1800page, It was the mindset of the visionary of how he saw the society bounds in the chains of false values, and how he felt about true love...
The plight of a woman in a patriachial society. IT is is more like a Culture story than a a love story which expands in four parts. The first explores the politics of Suvarnapur, Saraswatichandra's home place  the second part describes the maternal place of Kumud and her mother's family, the third part deals with the place of Kumud's father and the last part describes the place where the lover's reunite...the Sundargiri Mountain...
IT is almost a travel bonanza into ancient history...

Thank you Srushti for introducing THE MAN to all of us and sharing that lovely story from his life. It tells you about the kind of man he was. Maybe kind of like our Saraswatichandra himself. Chand Jaisa shaant 😊

Looking forward to the show. Really excited for the story, direction and performances πŸ˜ƒ

Nice post Srushti.

When this book was publised some youngsters left their father's house inspired by his writtings, so much was the influence of his book.
One more thing, you are unaware of, on the last day of your Mumbai visit, you were standing exactly opposite Govardhanram Tripathi's book shop for half an hr, now run by his grandson.
