What is common between Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hain, Diya Aur Baati Hum, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai and Pyaar Ka Dard Hai Meetha Meetha Pyara Pyara? Apart from being Star Plus prime time shows, all of them are titled with yesteryears timeless melodies. And yet another melody is enroute to Star Plus' slot.
With intent to extend the weekday prime time offerings, Star Plus is set to launch a new show EK Ghar Banaunga at 6:30 pm slot from April 29, 2013. The show will replace repeat telecasts of ongoing shows.
Let's find out how this show boosts of promoting rishta wahi, soch nayi of the channel. The show is supposedly a love story between two opposites with a new twist.
Two opposites – The male protagonist of the show Aakash is a school drop-out wannabe and falls in love with well educated and balanced female protagonist Poonam. Clich! We already have Diya Aur Baati Hum on board.
New Twist – Poonam looks after her parents and wants a secure future for them even after her marriage. She aspires for a son rather than son-in-law for her parents.
Traditionally, daughters are supposed to leave their family behind post marriage and take care of their in-laws. Does that mean that the parents of the bride should be left at the mercy of fate if they are not blessed by son? Should they be rendered helpless at the age when they require it the most?
The show is an attempt to address this very problem of today's so called son-less modern nuclear family. Both leads are new comers Ishita Dutta and Rahul Sharma. The ensemble also includes Somesh Agrawal and Pyumori Mehta. Rest of the cast is still undercover.
The concept of the show has uncanny resemblance to DABH, where the male protagonist is supporting the female for fulfillment of her dreams. If Sandhya's dream is to become an IPS officer. Poonam wants to continue taking care of her parents post marriage as well. Both their dreams pose a challenge to the existing rudimentary norms of the society and anything else, but a path full of obstacles awaits them.
Will Aakash's attempt to be a son to his spouse' parents be taken in the right spirit by his own family and the society? Will this transition be smooth for him? Tune in to Star Plus to find out the same
