Amitabh Bachchan returned from a whirlwind Cannes trip
yesterday and within hours he was back at the studios, this time to lend
his voice for a television serial, 'Bharat Ka Veer Pratap, Maharana
Pratap.
A source told: "When Amitabh Bachchan
heard the concept of the TV series, he was quite excited. He told the
team that he will begin recording as soon as he returns from Cannes."
The show will go on air shortly.
The actor landed at the airport
around 1 am yesterday and tweeted : "Landed home ... just !! large
respectful media at airport .. strange, does not happen so normally ..
must have done something."
The source added: "He landed in India
on wee hours of Thursday and by 4 in the evening, he was there at the
dubbing studio in Andheri. It didn't take him long to finish the
recording. The final version sounds perfect."
It was Satyajit Ray, who first used Bachchan's unmistakable baritone in the 1977 film Shatranj Ke Khilari. Over the years, the voice has become a brand of its own and has been used in movies like RA One and Lagaan. In 2005, he also lent his voice to the Oscar winning French documentary March of the Penguins, which in the English version was done by Morgan Freeman.
