His heart beating so fast with nervousness and exhilaration that he could hardly concentrate on the road. He tried to focus his mind on driving more but it wandered endlessly to her. How she would be?
How silly he was to leave her in the hospital and take a small break to return home for getting refreshed. He was tired, no doubt, sitting besides the love of his life for long hours. He had been staring at the beautiful sleeping face for a long time and could look at her for eternity. Mother advised him to go home and he obliged. They would stay with Meera and he can return after sometime. His mother's assurance made him fell good. And he had left.
She started experiencing pain minutes after he departed.
In the washroom, he had just splashed water on his face when the phone rang.
Dashing out, he hurriedly picked up. Dad's frantic words finally sank in after a whole two minutes and he rushed otside to his car, not even caring to dry his face.
In a trice, he was in control of the wheel, driving at a expeditive speed.He couldn't comprehend his situation. In a sudden second everything around him changed. His life was changed.
He accelerated, the engine roaring deafeningly, drowning out all other noise. In a few minutes hospital came into sight and made Prithvi's eyes grow wide.
So many emotions and feelings were overflowing and his face spoke volumes. His car came to a screeching halt. Without a second's waste he dashed throught the hospital doors with an anxious face. The world around seem to stop. Everything looked still.
And then,
An elated Daata walked or rather ran to him and hugged.
"Congratulations, Beta." Daata continued holding Prithvi his arms resting on his shoulders. Dadi, bua, Rajeev and Akash were all smiles. "Don't you want to see them?"
Prithvi broke onto a huge grin, his eyes misty. They were happy tears. Tears of extreme joy.
He was now a proud father!
He gave a cognizant smile to everyone present around him and rushed to see his wife. Cautiously he opened the door and looked. Cries filled the air. He gazed at his exhausted and tired wife. Meera looked at him, a weak smile on her face. She was tired out from giving birth to a cute little girl and a boy.
Prithvi walked towards Meera and took her hand and planted a kiss on her forehead.
She smiled.
With low voice she muttered catching his collar.
"Prithvi, we have twins."
His eyes grew wide with happiness. A nurse arrived carrying two crying babies.
Cautiously he took them in his arms, his eyes full of tears.
"She has same eyes as you." Meera winked.
Look at his nose, just like yours." He smiled.
"These are my angels!"
He gave the brighest smile to her.
This was the happiest moment of his life!! His life was complete. A beautiful loving wife, a cute baby boy and a lovely daughter.
