A new preview for Supernatural's midseason finale shows that our little buddy Zeke will use his powers against his only ally. With Sam's health on the line, how long will it be before Dean takes the plunge and admits the truth to his brother?
"It is starting to drive [Dean] a bit crazy and it gets to a point where it actually backfires on him," Ackles told TV Guide. "In some way, shape or form, it's going to explode and the ugly truth will rear its head. At this point it's a battle that he is very begrudgingly having the fight."
Supernatural' Season 9 Spoilers: DJ Qualls Confirms Return as Garth, Set To Film In November? VIDEO
Despite the apparent upcoming problems between Ezekiel and Dean, Padalecki says the two will begin to bond after Dean discovers the heavenly beings true motivations for helping Sam.
"I think it's because Dean was so obviously and apparently vulnerable to Ezekiel. He had to basically say, 'Listen, fine. Just do whatever. Save my brother,'" Padalecki said of the growing comfort level between the two. "So Ezekiel's seen Dean's Achilles Heel."
While many Supernatural fans are spending the midseason hiatus trying to recovery from the sudden death of Kevin Tran, the CW series is preparing a few guest appearances to cheer viewers up.
Since the beginning of the season, the paranormal drama has brought back several recurring characters, including one that was already deceased. Episode 1, "I Think I'm Gonna Like It Here," saw the return of the deceased Bobby (Jim Beaver) and Death (Julian Richings). Charlie Bradbury (Felicia Day) made an appearance in "Slumber Party," and Sheriff Jody Mills (Kim Rhodes) fought a Roman goddess in "Rock and a Hard Place."
As for the second half of the season, D.J. Qualls recently confirmed his upcoming return as Garth via Twitter. In October, the actor teased fans with a tweet to series regular Jared Padalecki telling him he would be seeing him in Vancouver soon. After appearing on CBS's Hawaii Five-O, Qualls took to Twitter once more to announce his next guest apperance.
"Thanks for the kind words about my little stint on Five-0," Qualls his followers. "Up next Legit season 2 and yep, I'll confirm it, Supernatural season 9."
The quirky hunter has been out of the picture for quite some time now, but Entertainment Weekly promises his absence will be explained. Click the video below to see one of Garth's more amusing scenes with Dean (Jensen Ackles).
The site also claims the rest of season 9 will see the return of a few characters viewers defiantly won't be expecting to see again. This could be a reference to the rumored return of some long-dead angels.
"I know there are angels that we really like that we killed off... [and] yes, I think we will reintroduce some angels," teased executive producer Robert Singer, according to Give Me My Remote TV .
Gabriel, portrayed by Richard Speight Jr., is a current fan-favorite to return, and a recent typo on IMDB had some viewers extremely excited. However, a recent from writer Robbie Thompson cleared up the accidental listing of Gabriel for an upcoming episode. Apparently the listing was supposed to say Gadreel instead. Despite this, there is always a slim chance the self-proclaimed Trickster could still pop up again.
