there are two races in vampires- moroi and strigoi moroi's use humans as feeders whereas strigoi's kill and by feeding on a moroi the strigoi's get more stronger... guardians protect the moroi's from being hunted...rose is one such guardian and the story is in her POV the vampire academy has 6 books and a sequel series called bloodlines which is 4 more books all are brilliantly written by Richelle mead... after reading the book you would be totally in live with the characters
