Did I hear right??

Is Mrityunjay adopted?  Nirmala mentioned that he (Jay's dad) made a mistake years ago picking up an orphan off the streets and making him the elder son of the family and that he's repeating his mistake by trying to make Tara their DIL.  Was she referring to Jay as the adopted elder son?  I so was not expecting that twist in this show.  I am loving all the suspense.  Can't wait to watch it all unfold.😊
