Actor Anil Kapoor's '24' premieres its first episode tonight at 10 pm on Colors. Interestingly enough, it'll be replacing the popular comedy show, 'Comedy Nights With Kapil', which got us thinking will it be as successful, or more? The audience loved him as 'Lakhan', will they love him as Jai Singh Rathore? While we may not have the answers just yet, we do have these 24 points that give us a behind-the-scenes peek in to what all and who all it took to ready the series.

1. Anil Kapoor originally starred in the eighth season of the international version and played president Omar Hassan. The Indian version of the show is written by Rensil D'Silva, director of 'Kurbaan'; and directed by Delhi Belly's Abhinay Deo.

2. It stars Anil Kapoor, Tisca Chopra, Mandira Bedi, Neil Bhoopalam among others, while Shabana Azmi, Anupam Kher, Rahul Khanna will be seen in cameo appearances.

3. After getting impressive reviews from within the industry, it has been reported the American producers of the original series may even make a feature film on the show.

4. A multi-tasking Anil Kapoor also managed to squeeze in time to do a voice over for a character named Karna in the animation film 'Mahabharat'.

5. The disciplined actor believes a 'diet regime is must'. In fact, while preparing for the Indian version of the series, Anil reportedly dieted on fish, and thanks star daughter Sonam Kapoor for her diet tips.

6. In the series Anil Kapoor is playing protagonist Jai Singh Rathore, head of Anti-Terrorist Unit (ATU).

7. The first season of the show that was shot for 150 days straight, maps an action and drama filled 24 hours in the lives of an Anti-Terrorist Unit that is working to stop the assassination of a young leader, while also dealing with a traitor within the group.

8. This series will be the first small screen outing of actors such as Shabana Azmi, Anupam Kher and Richa Chadda who will appear in cameo roles in specific episodes. The main cast along with Anil includes Tisca Chopra as Anil's wife and Mandira Bedi as a member of ATU. Actors like Rahul Khanna and Anita Raj will also be seen on the show.

9. Anil has produced the Indian version of '24' under his banner Anil Kapoor Productions, and plans to air episodes from the series on Fridays and Saturdays, starting today.

10. Colors reportedly bought Anil's 24 for Rs.85 crore. Anil has yet to comment on the figure.

11. Anil graduated to the international film circuit after playing a TV show host in Danny Boyle's Oscar-winning 'Slumdog Millionaire'.

12. Anil also starred as a billionaire called Brijnath in the Tom Cruise starrer 'Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol' soon after that.

13. When preparing for his role the actor admits to spending close to six to eight hours with a dialect coach and participing in workshops. While most would assume the actor would know the workings of the industry inside out by now, the veteran actor took time out to learn how to complete an entire scene in one shot.

14. The actor was in for quite a surprise when he learnt of all the equipemnt that went in to producing a tele series. He reportedly found the system of the script's advancement particularly interesting and mentioned in an interview that there was first a blue colour script followed by a red script, which then graduated to a yellow script, and eventually a pink script. The final result: a white script to be used while shooting.

15. The show's writer Rensil D'Silva reportedly said that shooting for the second season of the show will start around the last week of November.

16. The second season will reportedly be based on the Mumbai terror attacks.

17. Understanding the need for proper research and planning that goes in to making a show a hit, the actor claims to have done a great deal of research when getting himself ready to play Jai Singh Rathore.

18.  According to a leading daily, the actor considers the creation of the second season itself as a good enough tool for measuring whether the first season is a hit or not. Sitting on this side of the screen, the audience might agree with such 'logic'.

19. The actor admits that most channels initally refused to buy the idea, at least not until Colors swooped in. We're sure those channels now regret it.

20. The character of the PM candidate Anil Kapoor is trying to save in '24' is reportedly based on Rahul Gandhi.

21. Anil Kapoor's character Jai Singh Rathod's American counterpart is a guy named Jack Bauer in the hit American series, and is played by Hollywood actor Kiefer Sutherland.

22. A reported five directors were roped in for the series.

23. When it came to the shooting schedule, each episode took up to whole 10 days to complete.

24. Actor Kiefer Sutherland, has reportedly shown interest in Anil Kapoor's '24' and wants to do a cameo in it.

Very interesting 24 points.
I liked the different color script advancements. It would be awesome to have Keifer Sutherland doing a cameo here.

I couldn't help laughing at the fact that the other channels didn't want to take it up. Of course no saas-bahu and over-stretched dramas in this one ๐Ÿ˜†.

I'm surprised STAR group didn't want to take it up, even though it is a show by Fox, a partner of the STAR group. STAR's loss, maybe Fox's loss, is now rival Viacom's gain.
