Sameer Soni's television serials include Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin (2003), Saaksshi (2004) and Parichay (2011). He was also a participant in the fourth season of Bigg Boss in 2010. Soni also played the lead role in Ekta Kapoor's soap opera Parichay - Nayee Zindagi Kay Sapno Ka' on Colors TV. Now he is all set to boggle your minds with a horror sci-fi show Ringa Ringa Roses-Khauff Begins'. Sandeep Hattangadi spoke to the genial Sameer about his new show.
What made you accept this show?
It's a very different show, has horror with a personal touch and that's
what appealed to me as I have never done a role like this before. My
character of JD is something very interesting.
What is the show about?
Ringa Ringa Roses Khauff Begins' is about truth hidden in mysteries and
mysticism. The story revolves around myths and paranoia, in a world
where unseen dangers lurk and unknown monsters roam. A world in which no
occurrence comes with a known explanation; JD (Sameer Soni) and his
Team P.R.A.I.D. (Paranormal Research And Investigation Department)
fearlessly battle in the unknown territory of the dark forces to protect
the innocent. The team embodies Jaffar, research specialist; Subbu,
data analyst and Maria, an intern. They investigate cases with a
supernatural or paranormal incident occurring in any part of the
country. The battle becomes personal as JD's daughter is taken hostage
by Rose, a paranormal entity and JD's nightmare becomes a reality. This
show blurs the lines between the normal and the paranormal and brings
the shadows of the darkness terrifyingly to reality.
How did you prepare for the character of JD?
Every episode is different and I try to play a different character each
time and I have also seen shows like X Files', CSI' and films like
Paranormal Activity' to build up my role.
How do u feel working on the show?
It's exciting and I am totally focused on this show and its uniqueness, I am sure it will appeal to late night viewers.
Theatre, television, or films, what excites you more?
I like to return to television after every two or three years, but
television is something I like to give my maximum time to because the
results are before the audiences every night and therefore I have doled
out 300 days to this show whereas films are something you need to give a
time of more than a year or two before the final product is ready, so
each one is different and has its plus and minus points.
Any new films on the anvil?
I am in talks with a few filmmakers but I need a meaty role like I had
in Fashion'. But right now I am happy with my television work.
Ringa Ringa Roses-Khauff Begins' will air on Life OK from November 30, 2013 at 11 pm, every Saturday and Sunday.
