Shlok clenched his hand into tight fists in anger..
So the scoundrel was here too!
Instinctively,Shlok moved in front of Astha,covering her from view,as if protecting her from the guy..
"You are right and wrong at the same Mr. Rohan Sharma..Right,that Astha Kirloskar is my fiance..But wrong cause it doesn't mean we have to spend the night together before marriage..Our feelings are not that weak.Unlike some people.."He said softly,making Rohan's smirk falter.
Shlok turned to face his client.
"Mr. Patel..Now if you'd show us to proper rooms..Please.."
"Sure sure Mr. Shlok..Come with me.."
Shlok did not bother look at Rohan Sharma,the spoiled son of a rich tycoon,as he pulled Astha in his wake,with him,and strode past him ,as the crowd parted to let them pass..
Nor did he care to listen to all the gossips among people as they started whispering about Shlok Agnihotri and his fiance.
Astha had been stunned by Shlok's declaration in public once again.But she was too shocked to react fast..
Finally as she freshened up in the privacy of her room,she thought about it all..
Now it seemed quite logical to her..Shlok after all did not have any other option than to agree to be her fianc to save her virtue,she decided.And especially since that horrible man was here..
She had goosebumps just thinking of that dark night when she would have had a horrible fate,if Shlok had not protected her with his name..
But he did not have to say you are engaged!The voice came from somewhere in the back of her mind,but Astha just ignored it..
Shlok had saved her,for now that was ample for her..
As she was fixing her dupatta her mind suddenly flashed back Shlok cuddling her and kissing her tenderly last night,and instantly she colored up..
She was sure she was the only one who remembers it..She prayed that Shlok did not remember,her embarrassing cuddling upto him..
The day passed in a fury of activities,as Astha and Shlok both got busy ,preparing for the party..The twenty fifth anniversary party of their client..
In the daylight the huge bungalow with surrounding endless gardens looked breathtaking..None of the dark shadow of the night before lingered..
Lights were being put up at all the corners,and the gardens were being lighted up too..
Astha and Shlok barely exchanged looks the entire day..Both wrapped up on their own worlds..
But once in a while Astha did sneak at him,her heart heavy that he barely noticed her..
He was still keeping his word of staying away from her,she understood with heavy feeling in her heart..
Shlok waited impatiently down at the hall..His eyes passing to the staircase once in a while..
The party had started half an hour ago,and was almost crowded by now..He was dressed in his a black suit with navy blue shirt.
Shlok was talking to an acquaintance standing close to the staircase, when something made him turn..
The entire crowded hallroom vanished from infront of his eyes after he set his eyes on the curved staircase..
The glass he was about to sip from was forgotten in his hand,as he took in what he had been waiting to see for a long time now..
A vision in saree walked down the steps..
She was fixing her saree,and looking down,as she slowly walked down the stairs..An ethereal siren in a maroon saree with black border..His eyes swept across her petite curvaceous figure,as the clinging material of the saree,clearly hinted at them..
And just when Shlok was about to breathe in,she swept her beautiful silky dark tresses of hair to one side,and looked up ..
Shlok forgot to breathe..
Astha Kirloskar had once again stunned him afresh with her beauty..Her eyes looked wider,and her lips looked more luscious than ever..
His heart rate increased as she kept on walking down..
Astha kept looking for the one person she really wanted to see..
She would die before she accepts it,but she actually had been thinking of him while she dressed up..
She had just taken the last step,when she slipped..
Just when she closed her eyes,ready for the fall,a familiar pair of strong arms got hold of her..Breathing deeply she looked up at the dark handsome face of the man..
Her senses bathed by his heady scent and closeness..Her hand rested against his chest,which she could feel was thudding as madly as hers.
Mesmerized she stared into the darkest and most mysterious pair of eyes she had ever seen,and her pulse quickened,as she stayed unmoving within his arms lost in his eyes..
Shlok could not believe how someone could look so ethereal,innocent and seductive all at the same time..
With his arms still wrapped round her body,he stared at her..His eyes taking in her perfect flawless features..
Her slanted doe eyes,bordered by dark kajal,were looking wider and her rosy lips were perfect juicy strawberry color..Her creamy skin glowing softly,with a hint of rose color at her cheekbones..
Shlok was getting lost again..
Suddenly someone wolf whistled nearby..
"Hey!Look at the Romeo-Juliet!They have started here in the party too..!"Someone snickered,making them move away instantly..
Shlok and Astha avoided each other for the rest of the party..
Or tried to do just that..But their eyes always ended up seeking each other,as if bound by an invisible thread.
But unaware by both someone else was keeping an eye on them too..
Astha looked around for a waiter,as suddenly her throat felt perched dry..She asked one waiter who was serving drinks for cold drink,but his tray was empty..
But he said he will be back with drink for her, Astha waited at a corner for the waiter to return.
The waiter was returning with a glass of coke on his tray,when a man hidden in the shadow stopped him..
Frowning the waiter,was about to ask why he was stopped,when the man,his face hidden in shadow,indicated him to stay quiet.
He showed the waiter a fat wad of money,and the waiter's eyes glinted with greed..
The man in the shadow,placed the wad of money into the waiter's pocket,then poured something onto the drink..
Then quietly the man pointed at Astha and indicated the waiter to take the glass to her..
The waiter nodded and walked towards Astha..
Astha smiled at the waiter,as he handed her the glass of coke.
"Thank you.."
Sighing her relief,she raised the glass to her lips to perch her dry throat..
