If the above figures are true then Modi is truly a Feku as he is known on Twitter. Overhyped? Misleading? 😕  I havent visited Gujarat but Proud-India said he lives there and was all praise for Modi having done good in all sectors of that state with nothing neglected. So will wait to see what he has to say to the above alarming statistics. 🤓

Modi has achieved a lot in Gujarat. The state is indeed enjoying a boom that it didn't have in the past. There are many key positives. However, the Gujarat model is an embellished and overhyped propaganda created by overzealous Modi supporters. In a bid to get him elected some of his supporters have gone overboard and painted him in an exaggerated light. I mean his supporters went as far as to falsely quote Julian Assange. That doesn't mean everything is propaganda and he didn't accomplish anything.

IMO in this election everyone is either out to destroy Modi or raise him on a pedestal. Objectivity is kind of lost.

Congress has failed two terms and has no new or better plans. They have no economic vision.

AAP is new and inexperienced. It will take time for them to formulate their vision.

Third fronts cater to regional interests and don't have the whole nation in view.

BJP with Modi is the only party with some development plan and vision.

This plan is not a magic formula. This plan will not fix everything instantaneously. The effectiveness of the plan will be seen in five years after Modi government implements it.

Personally, I am not a fan of Modi. I am glad I don't have to vote, because I'm not sure if I would be morally be able to support him. I'm conflicted. But on an objective basis Modi deserves the vote when you compare him to all candidates. After ten years of being fcuked by Congress, India is desperate for something different.

From what I am aware, there is a good amount of development in Gujarat. Although economically , it has always been a strong state but winning 3 terms anywhere in India couldn't be achieved without some credibility.
Gujarat , Pre-Modi too was a riot affected state, with severe casualties frequent incidents.

I personally, have stopped holding the morality view for Indian Politics. The polity is too complex to be passing the verdict.

There is no single party which can hold their flag with no blood on it. If I worry for Modi as the PM , I equally flinch to see SP still in power in UP after the recent riots.  Don't get me started with Cong. What I like in India now, is the dynamic public reaction- I feel a large section is increasingly detaching religion/region when it comes to making politically informative decisions. Hence, I doubt , BJP or any other party can survive using the right-wing politics.

Why just India, even in US , the right-wingers finding it hard to make a public impression with their conservative policies.

I cannot work my head around what Congress has done to itself and most of it , the party deserves. For now, Modi will earn a chance like AK did in Delhi.  The general rightful desperation , makes Indians a tough crowd to please, though.

Genie: I posted an article from CNN-IBN on the AAP thread about the resurgence of RJD in seven constituencies of Bihar and what it would mean for the BJP. Wuld like to know your take on that.

first of all, a lot of people say that gujarat was already industrialized. that may be so. in fact my fahter can confirm it was, as he used to work there sometimes when he was in the ad business.

but with the same logic, gujarat already had horrible social indicators.

also modi has MAINTAINED the growth level, working off a larger base.

a lot of the indicators seem to be false, as a lot of people I know who live in gujarat don't feel that way. modi himself said we need real time data and not manipulated statistics. remember, there's been a huge investment in health and education by modi. so we don't know what statistics we'll get if we take the latest data!

why have the congress and each and every other modi baiter always stressed on 2002 and not development. why do digivjay singh and kejriwal take pictures of slums from africa and chennai and call it gujarat?

why the hell have people voted for modi 3 times in a row! (i concede this is not a good argument as congress has been in maharashtra and delhi 3 times in a row lol but it was more on electoral strategy, not development)

why does guj have 99.99% electrification? drinking water? gas pipeline? clean roads?

statistics can be manipulated. similarly guj has statistics which show unemployment is lowest! so who to believe?

I think it's safe to say that accusations in gujarat are overblown, not the achievement. :)

I was watching ABP news today that had locals discussing issues in Gujarat. The congress and AAP candidates said that it's just one of those things. Gujarat was already quite developed and the growth that has been projected is a natural consequence.

It's like in Punjab which is considered a prosperous state but this is owing to the efforts of the individuals. Other indicators health, infrastructure etc are in a dire state.

The Left-liberal media's coordinated attempt to discredit the Gujarat Story', and thereby seek to question the quality of governance provided under the leadership of Chief Minister Narendra Modi, continues unabated. The world recognises the Gujarat Story' as one of remarkable economic achievement coupled with social development over the past decade. Hard-nosed investors and cynical industrialists acknowledge the rapid turnaround witnessed by this State on account of radical policy initiatives and their implementation by the Modi Government. Yesterday's global economic power houses fallen upon bad times today are making a beeline for Gujarat to try and hitch their fortunes to those of this State in the hope that it would lead to a miraculous recovery for them.

All this and more is there for all to see but our blinkered Left-liberal media, controlled by an overweening commentariat dependent on crumbs from the high table of a status quoist and thoroughly corrupt New Delhi Establishment, will just not take note of facts as they exist. Instead, newspapers, journals and news channels continue to peddle fiction that is of a piece with their jaundiced perception of reality. It is a command performance - the morally bankrupt Pied Piper of New Delhi leads; the intellectually bankrupt intelligentsia which dominates the Left-liberal media follows.

Is economic growth the only measure of governance? What about health indicators and equity in society?
